HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP YOUR SLED?

I plan on keeping mine forever. Why keep spending 8k or more every few years, that's not me I want to keep a sled I can trust and won't cost me a lot on repair bills. I don't care about weight. I'm gonna retire in 10 years and the more you beat on yourself the more your gonna feel it when you get older. Plus I can't ride stupid with my wife depending on me to not get hurt and be out of work. I don't care about power this sled has enough for me.

I'll have mine for a long time also. As long as the motor holds up anyways.

13,800 miles on mine. It's time for a new drive axel with extroverts, bearings, new chain and gears and 2nd set of oilite bushings for the frontend. All the mods I've done it's set up perfect for my style of riding. Till Yamaha builds a new Apex that I just gotta have I'll be riding my old trusty steed for a Looooooonnnnnggggg time.

Probably forever...I have every sled I ever bought myself sitting in one of the garages...except my 1979 SRX that I still regret selling!

1981 SRX
1996 VMAX4
1999 600+700 SX
2002 SRX
2007 Attak
And none of these sleds can be classified any where near stock!

I just broke one thousand miles, I hope to keep my Attak for a very long time. I'm doing all the preventive maintenance on it so it should last me a few years.

Just broke 12,000 and am looking at some of the same this off season as well as a new track. Still have the original on it now.

Mine's the original ripsaw. I fully cliped it when I put on the Duponts. I think I'll keep it on.The track looks like new, no rips, tear's or fray's. All the lugs and studs look good with no signs of any pull throughs.

When I say these are my last sleds I don't want to have any kinds of payments. When I retire , I will have no house car sled or loans of any sort to have to pay.

I plan on keeping mine as long as the maintenance and upkeep costs are manageable while reliability stays the same. Im not into trailside repairs like I was used to on my 93 T-Cat 900, I just want to turn the key and ride. I only have 2250 miles on my LTX GT, which is sad considering the past 2 snow seasons were good ones. It took me 15 years to save up enough money to finally ditch the T-cat and get a new Apex in 2009, so I don't think Ill be ready for a new sled until at least 2020. I have the Apex set up for my weight and riding style, it is very predictable to me on the trails and I am enjoying it as is for as long as I can. I don't plan on modifications, other than revalving the shocks and upgrading springs.

Maybe by 2020 there will be an all new apex with new chassis and the same 998cc 4 holer that we all love in our sleds. I may be the minority here, but my apex has plenty of HP and Tq for me as is.

For me, it seems the more time I spend on the Apex the more enjoyable it gets. I just broke 4000kms on my '07 GT and sure the previous owner didn't use it much it was sitting in a heated garage since 2007, she's like a spring chicken!
I like doing little things to mine every year to make it better and better for me. However, this sales model may not work so good for Yamaha to sell new sleds.
Look at Doo. Every owner knows that they will not last, but that coupled with the fact that Doo keeps updating to the latest and greatest.....they sell new sleds. People WANT to drop the banks money on new one's every 2-3 years.
I for one take pride in running the new one's down with my excellent setup, amazing engine and a little added skill.

I can't see buying a new sled for looks, plus why buy a new sled for more power I don't care if another sled or person beats me. I'm out to ride not race, you race on tracks not trails. It's cheaper to me upgrade than buying a new sled. I look at it so it's faster so it looks different I'm happy with what I have.

I plan on keeping mine until the price of an Apex with EPS falls into my affordability range....but with one kid in University and another getting married it might be a while!
