my brothers RX warrior uses about 1/4 of a quart a year, while my apex uses very very little.. in twice as much time..
I believe it was the 03s that had the oil consumption problem..

- Which one? I have 6
Motoman way, turbo since new, 11,000 miles, burns 1/2 litre per 1000 miles. This is mostly due to throttle useage and long hard pulls.

my turbo Attak use no oil, but my wifes 03 RX1 is a pig on oil,, and let me telll you that sled is like new ,, only ridden hard when i use it,, funny just had that talk with a Yamaha tech,, and was saying early 03 had a ring issue, could do the rings but the amount my wife uses it i wont bother , just add the oil and deal with it..

Anybody try the stuff called "restore" it says specifically not for wet clutches but I can't remember if we determined if the RX's has them or not. It works great in cars though. From 500 miles a qt to back to 3000 on my beater car.
I have a early model 04. Do not know if that matters, but it uses the stuff! I factory broke broke in it and Quickly swithed to synthetic. It has 9000 miles, motor runs strong, just have to watch the level. I also notice that on a cold start she puffs with little choke. And running a couple hundred miles in a day the oil level is also down. Probably a combination of rings and valve seals. I have used Lucas in small amounts and that seemed to help on the packing trips. Never done a compression test to pin point why. Why fix what ain't broke. Not feeling like the Lone Rainger.
Dad has a 07 and uses none.
