Well I would hope they are not using the same block or pistons in your new short block! If they are I'm going to have them fix my motor

No I got a deal on some rods out of a model T and pistons from Yugo!!!! It will run on 93 octane goat milk or Yak in a pinch.

1tp said:Not happy at all. I took delivery of it on January 21st. Had a chance to ride it a totally of 142 miles. Since then it has been in the shop. First for a blown head gasket. The radiator cap fell off and caused it to overheat!! Got the sled back last night and now it is mis-firing!! Back to the shop last night. "Liked" the sled for awhile, now I am not sure I want it back!! VERY disappointed at this point!!
Update. After changing coils, my dealer and the engineers at Yamaha now think that I have a bad ECU. Dealer has been great, but I am not sure if I will ever "trust" this sled again.....

All it would of took is a little research to know what you were up against before you bought it. I looked at everything and new what I was getting into before I bought it. I was well aware of the oil change and taking off the hood. Didn't really think about the chain. But for me it's three bolts. To many people on this website complaining for small reasons. Love the site but people get off your asses and fix these little things and quit complaining! This is a awesome sled and I love mine! No problems and it's what I wanted! It's way more fun to ride than the Nytro. Big issues I understand, but people (men) get a set of balls and quit whining!little problems are easy to fix. Maybe get creative and problem solve some things. Every manufacture has issues! If you don't like it sell it and get off the site. If I were thinking about buying this sled and read all of these little complaints I would second guess myself. All false this is a great sled and will make Yamaha a contender now!

Styling, build quality, big bump capability, throttle response, low and midrange power, ergonomics, and reliability, are as good as I have ever experienced.
But,,,,,,,I have never owned a sled as slow as this Viper. It hits a wall at 85 mph (typical groomed trail conditions). I have had 500cc Polaris's go 105 mph on the speedometer, which was most likely 95 mph in reality. And that was a 100 hp machine. My Viper has 500 miles on it with a PCV, Ignition module, and SLP muffler. You would think a sled with 140 hp or more would easily run with any sled up to 100 or so. Something is wrong with this chassis or perhaps there is a fail safe programming feature that pulls the top speed down. I had rode FX Nytros that had done over a 100 mph in like conditions.
This has me quite unsatisfied and I'm very surprised that so many Viper owners mention this but are not alarmed. It is not that anyone needs to run 100 all day long, but more that something is definitely wrong with the overall powertrain design.

Go with a turbo, gears and clutching. You'll never sell the sledStyling, build quality, big bump capability, throttle response, low and midrange power, ergonomics, and reliability, are as good as I have ever experienced.

Extremely happy, once I get the pushing in the corners fixed, always have had good luck with the four stroke, would like more adjustability in the shocks for different conditions, but realize the model I bought does not have adjustable shocks, but looking to upgrade them, looking for another one.

Best sled I have ever owned.
The only other sled that was as much of a "game changer" for me was my 1997 SX700!

I really like mine. It impresses me more and more every time I ride it. It does have some quirks, but what snowmobile doesn't? I could only imagine if Cat designed the chassis around the engine instead of forcing the engine into their two stroke chassis.

Love it
But the fit and finish of the plastic is horrible

Love mine. Sure it isn't the fastest for top speed but man does it ever accelerate corner to corner in the trails. Handles the bumps with ease and I love the engine braking now that I'm used to it. I rarely have to use the brakes at all.

2014 LTX DX, overall a little disappointed with sled.First year hot start issue, after reflash starts better but now sometimes stalls wile warming up, does not run as well as the 2015 we have.
With clutching and exhaust runs a little better midrange and on top.Starter kick back at times, chaincase bearing failure.I was expecting running quality of the two nytros that we owned.
On the positive side, rides and handles very well, excellent ergos as well, good bottom and midrange pull. The 2015 LTX SE we have has had 0 issues.I believe 2017 will be better, as Yamaha slowly
improves on quality. With japanese electronics and bearings in drivetrain could be so much better.
