Align my clutches? Unless it's an optical illusion, my primary and secondary on my 05 Vector are out of alignment. Using a straightedge as best as I can, it could be as much as 3mm out of alignment.

This could explain why I've been going thru belts like nobody else has! Both clutches and their components look to be in good shape.

The sled has almost 8000 miles on it. Other than a hard hit (never happened) what could cause a motor to shift out of alignment?

They are built with a offset cant recall the number right now but I want to say 3 mm the primary sticks out different then the secondary. To align you need a special tool that has the offset built in and your checking to see if each clutch is aligned against that tool not the clutches against each other.

How long are your belts lasting? What clutch maintenance have you done in 8000 miles?

When did the belt blowing start (milage)?

Sorry Kinger I should have been more specific....there is a 3mm DIFFERENCE between the front of the primary and the back. Unless its an optical illusion, looking at the clutches from above, the motor is turned CCW a bit.

I know a special tool is needed to make an official measurement, but I'm confident that how I did it gave me a good indication.

The sled has never been good on belts...2000'ish miles and it's toast. My former dealer said the alignment has been good, even when I measured a 1+mm difference in alignment.

Last year I exploded (I mean EXPLODED) a belt that had <1000 miles on it. Weights, roller, pins, springs, buttons were changed at 3600 miles. Weights are showing some wear but look OK for at least another season.

Called local Yami dealer. They claimed that the way the motor is mounted that for it to be 3mm out of alignment that a motor mount would have to be broken.

They said to bring it in and in 30-45 min of labor they'll tell me if it's out and if so, how much. If there is a problem they'll tell me how much it will be to fix.
