How many of you are keeping your RX1?

Otis RX - tell me about it, I'm right there with you

Here's a link to my kind of fun, pretty much the same route but with the emphasis on rough trails instead of lake racing, I hope to be competitive in the friendly races on the lake tho :) It's way too fun building my own sled the way I like it, can't sell it NO WAY.

My 03 has about 24 000 kms, have upgraded to a mono, all the front updates with fox floats up front. This sled has been bullit proof to date & still runs like a top. You hear of a lot of guys wanting to shave weight off these sleds but as I only run trails & lakes it has never been an issue for me. If some of the people wanting to shave 20, 30, 50 lbs off the weight would simply go on a diet themselves they wouldn't have to spend a dime!
I find my Rx1 more comfortable on long hauls than my brothers Apex & mine is definatly a lot warmer on those cold days than his is.

KrustysRx1 - welcome to the site, agree with you on the RX-1 beeing warmer as I own and ride both a RX-1 and an Apex. The Apex is bone stock and I'm going to leave it that way. The RX-1 on the other hand is going thru surgery again this year like the last few summers/autumns.

I'll be keeping my 04 rx1 for a few more years. Its been a great sled. I've added the airwave suspension along with a new seat( more padding ) You can't beat the reliability of the rx1.

Keeping " The Big Blue Machine "

I waited for Yamaha to get the bugs out of the 2003 RX-1 and plunked down coin for a 2005. 6,789 miles later with a clutch kit and ecp and an Apex seat, I enjoy it better than my new FX Nytro. This sled rocks!

keeping rx1 05

I have a 05 with 13000 km on it , no problems , just changed the exhaust donuts , abit of a pain , but beats motor jobs. I like the apex BUT the pain it is to get to the motor is not worth it , a little more storage in the seat but thats a lot of money up here to change in canada , I would like to go to a 136 " if i could change by trading for a used apex ltx or maybe a nitro xtx next year , canadian prices are crazy for the amount of use we get..

ME TOO! I've modded my sled from front to back, it's never burned any oil except when towing in a broken down sled. Once you get it riding well, in my case a 136 M10 and Ohlins all around, why sell it for a HUGE LOSS? I can't even remember a lot of the mods i've done, pretty much all of them except the handwarmers and NOS/TURBO. I love to ride her, especially in the twisties. Next mod for me will be adding an Airwave to her and putting the M10 on my spare.

I had an 2003 rx1 mtn (fully modded) and a heavily modded apex 2006 mtn too.

I have just purchased another heavily modded 2003 rx1, but not a mountain, just a 136" variety, for radar runs and fun on the trails.

But I already have quite a few change done to suspension (2007 monoshock ohlins suspension) and apex seat and handle bar. so should be great on trail

I was thinkin' about sellin' but this thread has inspired me -

Still lots of fun left in this one :jump:

I agree , 9k on mine and I plan on riding it till it dies. I rode a new 136' apex this past weekend and wasnt that impressed with the rear skid performance to be truthful. Thinking about getting my girl a Nitro FX, so I can excuse to ride it, but i'm gonna be happy with my "old iron" till she blows. That may be a while. Think snow.

RX1

Muloturbo, did you install an OHLINS EC mono into an RX ?
Did you find a way to wire up the electric control ?
