I just took mine out and it is broke clean through in 3 spots and cracked in 2 others. That makes 5 seperate brakes in one part. The shock is so badly worn that I can see part of the bushing from the track rubbing.
I hope the Y.E.S. warranty is going to cover it. This is going to require a little more than a weld!

Yup. Mines an 06. I upgraded to a 08 piece that is much better built. If mine wasn't so trashed I would have the guy on this site strengthen and powder coat. But it was in pieces when I took it out....

5500 miles on my 07 APEX and i just took mine out to check it out, sure enough, a small hairline crack and the weld was cracked. I put gussets in and welded up the crack, should be good to go now.

Broke mine in '07 AttakGT with 4,200 miles. Broke in two places on the top shaft.
Good luck with getting it warrantied. Hopefully your dealer steps up to the plate for you unlike mine. I had to do battle for weeks directly with Yamaha to try and get everything covered, but eventually did. The replacement is a much better, strurdier/beefier design. Geeee, I wonder if they realized anything was wrong with the old one..lol

Hey budweiser or anyone. How many miles can I get before I should have it strengthened to be safe in anyones opinion? and how much is the yamaha part?

broke mine in two places at 700 miles the updated arm is much stronger.

To answer the OP, I Broke my 05 RX-1 with 2500 miles on but the 05 was even weaker than the 06 and the 06 weaker than the 08 and the 08 weaker than the 2010... Hum.. maybe yamaha should put the monoII in all of our sleds since the original is such junk... Think that'll happen... Never...

My 06' Apex was shot after the first year. Can't say when as the last 1000 miles was in one trip so it could have been mile 1 or 1000. Anyway I would plan on sending it out ASAP, now I wouldn't cancel any trips because of it but if you've got some time get it out now.

I shattered my 2001 SRX 700 in 4 pieces. Previous owner did the same thing. I just bought a 2007 Attak hoping to get away from this garbage.

I had a crack in mine and had it replaced under YES before last season. With the newer strong part as well.
