How many of you have not had any problems with your phazer? I Just bought one and I getting concerned reading the post. The thing that worries me most it the over heating. You guys that have closed the tunnels has this helped with over heating at all. you guys that have the fan has it solved the problem? I thinking Yamaha will have a fix for the icing up issue on the running boards.( I hope) The way I understand it is that ice builds up in front of the heat exchanger preventing new snow to cool it. If this is the case the fan will help , but not solve the problem. :exc:

I have not had any problems(that I didn't create)
No overheating
no massive amounts of snow/ice build up
No overheating
no massive amounts of snow/ice build up
My heat light stopped coming on at around 300 miles.
I didn't ride it hard enough to break the rear suspension but I'm sure I could have if I still rode as hard as I did 10 or 20 years ago. Yamaha is reported to be coming up with a kit with stronger components for more severe duty.
The ice buildup is an issue but should be cured with the side panels or closing off the tunnel.
Otherwise, no issues.

the heat light came on at around 300 miles for first time,it came on twice in the period of 15 min, when i got home i ordered the fan,its about $130.i know im keeping this sled for at least 4 years so i wont worry about this issue.the light never came on since and yamaha reimbursed me cause i had my dealer call to see if they would cover it wich they did.as for icing,i installed homemade side sheilds before putting one mile on the machine,it cost me $5 of alum.still ices up a bit but nothin major, will modify this summer.as for front heat exchanger, never plugged up once, this is an issue for powder riders imo.this sled is awesome, dont be afraid to buy one,its awesome on gas and efi is sweet.not a hickup all season long,i have 2500 miles on it

...no troubles
Red GT 3200 km not a single trouble yet,
except lost front logo, no overheating not even once. Icing issues were minimals, check every bolts did not found any loose. This is a great sled Jaype.

I have 900 km on my phazer and no problem with overheating at all
except twice when i was standing still to long idling. I covered the hole
in the tunnel before i started riding it. My theory is that more snow will
hit the heatexchanger in the tunnel if you close it.

No problems except the well known loose engine mount nut and the missing front yamaha badge. But my sled is not very stock... the turbo and 1.5" track solves most of the icing/cooling problems. Have not installed the fan yet, but I have bought it.

Re: how many of you have not had anyproblems with your phaze
Closing the tunnel does not help on the overheating issue at all. Only reduce the ice build up inside tunnel and running boards. I did not have any problems with overheating until the temprature riced above freeze.. Have a fan in order but its backordered until early may. I have heard rumers that yamaha will offer the 08 rear "muffler" plastic panels for a few bucks. But I dont worry about that. I have closed my tunnel and problems are almoust gone. Except driving in deep powder. Due to turbulence snow hit the muffler and water spreads all over tunnel and running boards. On "hard" packed its no problem what so ever.
Today it was 5deg/c 41deg/F and I have not experienced any heat problems with the closed tunnel. Some claims that you loose power and that you will melt down seat and also the plastic panel around muffler but dont listen because you will not experience anything of this.
Some have also reported their sled to be a hard starter when cold. Yamaha will offer a fix for this. They will shift the "weight" on camshaft that controlls the autodecomp mechanism. They have found out that the exhaust valve stands to "long" open and if they "reduce" this opening time the engine will starts more easily. (will have it to close at lower rpm)
I also hope that they come with a fix on the plastic panels between the a-arm mountings. This pannel bends in deep snow and allow powder to enter the engine room. Snow melts, water freezes down low causing steering to lock and also make dammages to the steering..
The rear skid shock on my fx really sucks. Its no reboud damping at all and on bumpy trails it beat the hell out of my #*$&@ and spine.¨
Edit: I have also experienced the revers issue on my. Yamaha told me to change the recomende chaincase oil out to mobil1 0-40W fully syntetic engine oil. This should help. Dont know if it works, havent tested it out.

Wish I could say that my Phazers have been trouble free. But they have not. I'll explain when Yamaha decides they're going to take care of me.
