Wifes went back for right hot grip at zero klms.
Should have been caught at PDI for how much their charging for it. Other than that 2000 K and hasn't been back.

Oil separator sat in the shop for a week to figure out what happened. And fix under warranty.
Head gasket and another week due to a bad gauge, another week and not under warranty.
I lost my sled for three weeks and I average around 6-7000 mile a year. This year was a great snow year and I only got just shy of 4000 miles.
Y you need a head gasket?
Faulty kill/throttleblock
Oil line rubbed almost through
Missing track clips
Regular maintenance
Yes I got the low idle twice and the code once informed dealer
Still working on rear suspension and tweaking clutching but 3100 mi has been a real pleasure and WAY better than my first year phazer did failure wise! Very happy!

My gauge was lying to me. So instead of running 11.5 max at WOT I was running leaner. And went through a head gasket. So I had that fixed. Now I need a new gauge. Bit we are out of snow so I will not worry about it until next year.

Chaincase update was my only trip in. Love the sled.
Only once for reverse actuator update and fluids change.

I waited till end of season to take it in otherwise it would have been multiple, can't wait to hear what excusses Yamaha is going to tell me to get out of fixing some of the probs. So far the pole is about 50% in the shop, I'd say that's Horriable!! I said it a year ago at this time we are all in for a shock the cats don't have near the build quality of a Japanese Yamaha. I bet we won't see any adds promoting a 20,000mile Viper, cause chassis will be luckey to make ten.

Keep in mind most 1 time trip is for reverse update.
OR, they could build you another tank like the Apex.....wait they still sell that!
I will NEVER after decades of buying Yamahas buy another tank from them, you are welcome to though.

Also would be nice to take into account "operator error" and "modification induced" issues and omit them.
Also how many counted 1st/break in service in their list?
And of course there's the thread "Selective memory" to keep in mind as well.
I'd say overall the Viper has done quite well. I see it as 72% plus have had little to no issues considering the reverse update was pretty much mandatory.

thats true, however the numbers in the pole don't lie. The apexs and nytros had some issues but never this many, tweaked or stock. My sled is bone stock and have many issues. Keep in mind as well the chassis is 3years old and engine is in 7th year of production, most of this stuff shouldn't be an issue. I know their are some new parts and will be bugs but, shouldn't be like thisTD Max said:Also would be nice to take into account "operator error" and "modification induced" issues and omit them.

Selective memory, want me to go get the huge list of fixes for the 2008 Nytro? Check this thread for a list I don't want to reprint a whole book here, but not the least was ball joints falling apart seems a little disconcerting. And who could forget bad geometry and wet left foot?

Or wet backside of the ears If we are gonna contrast all first year failures as non failures than we are going in circles rather than ahead Does this make it all aceptable because its a first year model. Why put any r&D into anything? Just realease it and demonstrate your capabilities of refining and improving. Like I have stated You are the R&D! If you notice both sleds remaining in my stable are 2nd year models.. Niether was much better than the first year release. THe 15s are out early, I might be waiting along time....
