I got a 2018 sidewinder ,how much boost can this sled take before the rods or pistons let go?

That's a tough question . Bigger turbo , don't lug it down I'd say 425 hp . I've seen stock turbo, 30 psi run for pass after pass year after year completely stock internals at a claimed 340-350 hp. Head studs is the weak part.

Agree with NYTurbo. "They" say about 425-450HP. I've heard one source say 500 is limit on stock internals (but he is only doing 500' drags). I believe head seal is already marginal at 18 lbs with stock "rubber-band" head bolts.

The stock engine can take whatever the stock turbo can do. With a bigger turbo, you need at least rods, head studs, valve springs and O-ring in the head to hold over 25-26 psi.

Probably way more than you can handle check out TD'S, Hurricane, or PEFI web sites, that should give ya some kinda idea, they will make pretty good hp numbers with out any motor mods. What is your plan?

Bottom line for me as a trail rider, I need to be able to run pump gas available at the places I go. No sense in having a tune that needs race gas mix or anything that needs more than maybe some octane booster.

That's where the bigger turbo comes in nice. 350 on pump gas.

Maxing out the stock turbo you should do head studs and valve springs. You can spit a shim with the stock springs.

How does this relate to adding a header? Meaning if you add a header and lower boost do you feel the internals are good even though you will be making more HP?Maxing out the stock turbo you should do head studs and valve springs. You can spit a shim with the stock springs.

Yea, you really can’t hurt the 998 with a stock turbo and good tune. It’s always better to make more horsepower with less boost, your fuel quality generally isn’t as finicky. Studs and springs for anything over 300hp, that’s just an insurance plan especially if your using launch control. How does this relate to adding a header? I think stock is 9-10, 270-300 will be 16-20 psi depending on the tune/hardwarehow much boost at stock? How much at 270hp-300hp?
