I have had the itch since before the new 0 mile sled has been in the garage. This morning the lawns are covered and its still snowing. Oh Yeah sledding will happen soon. How much snow do you guys wait for to take the toy on its first ride of the year? I am more then likely going to wait till I have a good 3 to 4 inches but man it will be hard to not just take it out for a quick opening test drive and start the break in process. (not too many places to go anyway as all the water is not frozen over yet anyway)

If you have ANY property (decent sized yard) I would be out there if I had a new sled. Wouldn't want to get mine dirty yet, but its not brand new either....

If you have property and a few inches get out there and burn the snow off!!!!!!! Just dont get to crazy and watch out obstacles. Dont want to bend or brake anything, that seems to hand in hand with easy season low snow condition riding

My field always has ruts for a 1000'. It looked like a foot but was closer to 1".

If you have 3" of snow,go find a field,or long gravel driveway, about 1/4 mile long, and just rip it hard back and forth, wfo, for 8012 second bursts, you only have 20 miles or so,to break in your rings, and you want to do it,under a good load, just dont hold it for a mile, until you got 50 miles or so,every 4-stroke we have broke in this way,all run very fast, and burn no oil. So what are ya waiting for,go have fun,it wont even rev up to 10,000 right out of the box,but if you do what i suggest, after about 5-8 miles of that ,it will, and you will feel the extra power coming on,but just take a few breaks in between, and let it cool down some,no need to cool it down to stone cold, but dont keep hammering it,till it starts pinging.new4stroker said:I have had the itch since before the new 0 mile sled has been in the garage. Interesting the yamaha books say the following for break in.
1) no excessive load 300 miles
2)0-100 miles no prolonged over 6000rpm
3)100-300 miles no prolonged above 800rmp
over 300 miles good to go.
I guess the short bursts do fit in this model as well. Have you guys waited the 300 miles to ride normally? That seems like a long break in time but then again it sets the sled up for life.
