How to convince to go with Yamaha

the best sleds for trail riding is a yamaha..they are heavey and stick to the trail..Polaris is not a yammie...why doesnt yammie change there trail sleds...because they dont need to...the only thing we complain about...is why no boost and why do they look the same...a trail rider doesnt care how heavey it is..just how fast it is...listin yamaha or the other guys will come out with boosted 4-strokes and then your out of the race..

Just print this thread and hand it to him... If he is so stuck on brand loyalty, be sure you carry a good tow rope.

Yamaha's can have problems too but IMHO 98% are related to either lack of proper maintainence or beating the crap out of the sled when riding. The engines are rock solid. I have almost 13,000 on my sled, original plugs, never touched the engine, original track, orignal clutch except for a cap bushing this fall and it runs like it did when I bought it. I ride hard (not stupid) 2-3,000 a year. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a Yamaha 4-stroke being towed... Lastly, I don't have to dump a $10 quart of 2-stroke oil in the sled everytime I ride. ;)!

That's funny you say carry a tow rope, it's because of the first time I had to tow him I carry one now. I had to ride to a neighbors house to find one the first time.

I also agree it's way cheaper to run, fuel and oil. My buddy is going to take a Polaris 750 and Nytro XTX for a ride at lunch and he'll see which one he'll take for a couple days as the dealer offered one to him to try. Thanks for all the replies, keep em coming. I think the bugging is helping.

tell him if he can ride for 15000 miles at an average rpm of 10 000 with zero motor issues,if you whack the throttle,it hits 11 500 rpm, this is a phazer, this is what yamaha engines can do,and way more, now lets run a poo 800 at that rpm,see how far he will go

Do you REALLY need to Convince him?

Just keep a note book in your rear seat cubby and keep records of Fuel/Oil useage this season, maybe who's started the easiest all the time and ran trouble free :flag: .......

of course i probably JINKED you now for sure
:jump:

Lost him

I am sorry to say, but I lost him again to Polaris. He got the IQ LX 4 stroke turbo. He said he just couldn't get use to the steering on the Nytro. He also had to weigh the fact that he had a 136 1 1/2 inch track he just bought that would fit it, and a seat jack that fit it, and some other interchangeable parts because it's the same platform as his 700. I am glad he got a 4 stroke at least, hope it will be reliable and not a lemon like some of you have talked about. Hope it lasts him a while, and if not I'm sure he'll go Yamaha next time. :yam:

Just tell him you don't look forward to working on his sled, towing him back, or listening him to complain about a broken sled all winter, and it would be easier on you and him both if he just gets a yamaha.

I have a fellow rider that has just rebuilt his polaris 700 in spring and just blew it again, he realizes he's got to get something different, but keeps looking at polaris, but now maybe 4 stroke. Anybody have any previous experience with polaris 4 strokes? I am trying to convince him to go Yamaha, have any ideas how to convince him? ;):D
My neighbor has a polaris four stroke nothing but trouble all it is is a turboed up 4 wheeler engine junk in my book he blew it up twice in three seasons. I own a polaris four wheeler its a good machine if you don't abuse it. Polaris 4 strokes don't take a lot of punishment IMO. He needs to just get on a Yamaha and ride it, if he has any sense of quality he will see and feel the difference. Maybe its a little heavier but you cant have everything!!!!

Hay, if he wants to spend his winter in the barn wrenching while you are riding that's his business I guess.
