Hi guys, I have an 06 Apex rtx with the latest proline clutch kit on it. I must not have it setup right because according to proline if it is set up right it will pull the skis. It doesnt seem much different than stock. I have 144 studs and a ram air intake and cr10ek plugs. What do i need to do? Thanks

I'd start with the rear suspension if you really want to get the skis in the air. What are you trying to accomplish by doing so? My ER will hoist the front end off the ground with relative ease and is completely stock, unstudded. Personally I think skis in the air is all show and no go and hinders the ability to corner. Try setting the transfer rod to maximum and let out your limiter strap. That ought to get those skis pointed upward.

Well my goal is drag racing. I want to beat an f1000 with a goodwin clutch kit and d&d pipe. I also want to beat a stock mach z. Suspension has already been adjusted. It is set as soft as it can go. Im also 16 and only weigh 110 lbs. I know its gonna be hard to get it to hook but according to proline it should still pull the skis and get off the line quick. I cant get it to pull the skis much at all. Im going to add more studs. The f1000 above keeps up with ease. What do i need to do? Haha I know eat more right?jwifferdill said:I'd start with the rear suspension if you really want to get the skis in the air. What are you trying to accomplish by doing so? Setting the rear susp "as soft as it will go" is diiferent from adjusting for max transfer as sugested above. If you adjust your transfer rod to the max setting this alone should allow the skiis to come up. This adjustment combined with letting your limiter strap out a bit will give you max lift on the skiis as well as max traction in the back. You can test and tune with these two adjustments to get it to the desired ski lift/ traction combination you need.

Ya, I agree with Rosco. You are going waaay too far in buying clutches and more studs when all you really need is a transfer adjustment. If you aren't sure what the transfer rod is, check your manual. It is a really simple adjustment. The answer is not always just throwing money at it!!

For drag racing a little ski lift is good, but you don't want to be standing the sled straight up and down in hopes of beating that big iron. Transfer rod set to max would be a good starting point and if you continue to need help there are all kinds of knowledgeable people on this site willing to give advice.

Your strap is probably set to stock, the bolts are in the middle. Loosen the strap one hole and adjust your transfer to 3/4, there are reports that they bend easy when they are let out to max. Drop your air in your floats to 25 or 30 psi, this won't help with the ski lift but it does help in acceleration. I have the same clutch kit, start with the 1/2" long weight and have it backed out about three threads past the heal and turn it in from there to hit the right r.p.m's. I ride an attak and on the hard pack with 168 sing./doub. pattern I can pull my ski's about 24" and it holds them to about 80 mph. On my buds 121" er, he can flip it over backwards if he wanted to, but yet when it counts he can point and shoot with acceleration. It's fast, but not as fast as my Attak. lol

My 06 Apex is stock and it kills F1000's and I can hold off my buddies 06 Mach Z till right around 105. He always catches me (and goes by me) on the big end. I have learned to just get out of the throttle when I have about 3 sleds on him at 100 like the race is over. lol I have 192 studs and my transfer rod set at about 3/4.
