hurricane turbo

I purchased some injectors from Dave a couple weeks ago, called up on a Saturday and talked direct to him. He wasn't just there to push products out the door, he explained to me in very good detail what the injectors were capable of as far as engine setup/hp rating and fuel pump setup. He no doubt knows his product and exactly what it needs! I should note that the injectors are for my mpi kit that I've had to spend a lot of money on to upgrade, 2 of the main things (injectors and power commander) come standard in hurricanes kits.

Go home if your having belt issues it is your clutching yr 1 on the 14 at 230 hp I was blowing them every 100+ miles Allen Ulmer pushed the sled to 260 and re clutched and machined and got over 1500 miles on that 8 dn

My plan is to try the 8dn this weekend and put on some miles. If I loose another one I'll be looking into Ulmer clutching. The ice is to thin this year to be worrying about belts !

Hey guys thanks for the replies!!! I will be contacting Hurricane about his trail turbo soon! I like that he is closer to me than any other supplier and many many people rave about customer service and knowledge of his kit! We are going for a trip south and will be stopping by his shop! I never owned a turbo so would love if he could give me all info necessary!!!
thanks again
Marc

Agree with you there. Even though I don't own Dave's turbo kit, I will be going through Dave to purchase goodies for next season!

can't go wrong with daves kit. i did mine at 1800 mi. then added the intercooler, and gearing at 2900 mi, then did a custom cold air intake, then cut the plastic under the headlight to allow for more air flow, the only trouble i have had was a cracked header, my intake temps are down to 50 deg while riding in 25 deg weather. haven't ridden in colder temps yet. with the stock kit in warm weather you notice some power loss. for the money there isn't a better kit.

bigger you go the cheaper it is
190 hurricane at $3200 for a gain of 55 hp is $58.18 per horse
240 hurricane at $5000 for a gain of 105 hp is $47.62 per horse
210/270 evo at $6000 for a gain of 135 hp is $44.44 per horse
270/400 hurricane at $6000 for a gain or 265 hp is $22.64 per horse
(based on 135 stock)

I recommend Dave's kit I bought the 190 trail kit this year. He is very helpful, always just a call away if you have any problems. It runs great, nothing like pulling up beside a new 800 doo and running away lol.
if you go with gauges get the cluster bracket, I designed it for him it fits right behind the cluster, no drilling the hood at all.

1600 Miles on my Hurricane 190 kit and no problems what so ever. Props here as well to great customer service. The power is super addicting... I'm already saving to upgrade to the 240 kit and taller gears.

Hey guys I'm totally happy with the performance with my sled but I'm getting a little hungry for more power! For the guys with the hurricane trail turbo what are your feelings with it?
What kind annual of maintenance is required with this turbo?
When purchasing this turbo does a compatible clutch kit come with it?
Currently I have a sandales pipe, air box mod and cotc with 8dn, will any of these add ons be compatible?
Would I be better to buy a new stock air box?
How difficult is the install (how long, any specific or specialized tool required)
is the evo flash compatible with the turbo?
I'm falling into the "want more hp trap"lol

any details or tips are well appreciated I have 0 experience with turbo applications but am learning daily!!!!

thank you all in advance
Marc

Not sure if you have been in contact with Dave yet but here is a link to my review of the 190 kit from last year with some pics of the install. He now has a link on his site where you can download the installation instructions with a few pics as well.

We are heading to southern Ontario next week to pick up a pontoon boat so I will be stopping in for sure!

Hurricane 190 kit converted to 11.5 lbs of boost running down the drag strip at 9.78 131.5 MPH
and still working on clutching

Ive had nothing but problems with my 270-400 kit. Pinched hoses going to the PCV map sensor, missing instructions for installation causing fuses to blow, overall wiring is wrapped in electrical tape. Looks like a teenagers stereo wiring job. Haven't you ever heard of heat shrink and wire loom? Not the quality I had hoped for. Very disappointed.

The evo 275 is not on pump gas either... That was a major down fall for me.. I went with MCX. If I had it back.. I would have went with Hurricane. Mostly for the customer service side of it.

if you don't mind hacking out 3/4 of the material behind your headlights to fit the intercooler that gets no airflow, yea go for it.
