Hyfax......how many miles have got on a set?

I'm still on my originals. Don't have the exact # as I just got home from the U.P.. But I'm somewhere in the 3600 mile range and looks like I'll make it thru the whole season in good shape. I'm thinking they'll go 5000. We'll see.

No additional idlers for me. all stock in the skid.

I changed the original ones at around 1500 mi. mid season last year. I have almost 3000 mi on this pair. Pulled them out Saturday to change them and the thinnest spot still had more than 5.5 mm, so I put them back in.

In response to a couple of questions that were posed earlier in the thread- I have tried the "wide slides" listed in the Yamaha acc. catalog- and for the small extra money they do run a lot longer than the cheapies. They have a plastic/graphite composition, so they are much slipperier (sp?) than stock. Plus it's nice that they already have the little notches cut at the front of the hyfax for the bend in the skid on the XTX. As far as less ice buildup on the skid due to a fully punched/clipped track, I haven't noticed a difference. My Ripsaw Lite is fully punched and clipped and the ice buildup on the skid is about the same as when it was stock as far as I can tell. Although to be completely honest I never thought about it until Arteex brought it up.

There must be something wrong with my wifes Nytro. She has 2400 miles on it and there is absolutely no wear on them at all. They look new. I also have a new 1200 XR with 1600 miles and no wear on them either. I'm thinking the reason they are showing no wear has a lot to do with the fact that the snow conditions have been awesome this year.

1500 miles on original sliders. They are just above wear line but they have been there since 500 miles. Snow wheel kit at rail bend in front and another set 3/4 back on rails. I also have the slydog wheels...

2000 miles so far in some real crappy conditions. I believe the idler wheels let the slides where so far then they stay at a certain point. When the wheels start to where down more so will your slides.
