I just change them as needed maybe once a year or two no biggie and I am running a 151 2" mountain track. ON my wifes 121 I have yet to replace the hyfax. Most people change them for no reason once they get to a certain point the wear is almost non existant.

Can the Hyfax on the XTX be changed without pulling the skid??

I decided to buy the wheels because our snow conditions are almost always marginal. Even when we get a good snow the trails become extremely hard packed within a day or so. I'm not going to spend $200+ on wheels ($200 dollars will buy several sets of sliders) and I agree the small diameter wheels work hard but for the money I'm going to give it a try. Benny talked me into it.
Tunnel heat exchanger is next. I've got to save my pennies.

If the wheels don't work for you because the penguines in the wheelbarrow are eating raspberries , BLAME ARTEEX. LOL!! Best of luck!

Sure, blame me but send your bill to Benny. He'll pay it, the dude is nuts. Penguins.
Just ignore the snickers and finger pointing from other riders when you go by with those little wheels on your sled. We're here for you.

hey Benny, what's the diameter on these little wheels. I'm going to see if I can get arteeex's penguins to take a break and calculate how many revolutions they'll make in 4600 miles.
Just kidding arteeex, I really do want to know what the wheel diameter is.

Roughly 28,546,131.24 revolutions in 4,600 miles.
The wheel is 3.25" in diameter.

I had a new set of factory sliders on before my last ride. Unloaded my sled and had to ride into St Ignace from skating rink parking lot to get gas. It was very cold and trail was froozen and hard. I was only going 10-15 mph and my slides were wearing fast. My friend stopped me to find out what was burning.
After a 200 mile day (the trail did loosen up as the day went on) my slide did show a lot of wear. There was black dust on the rails. I dipped into snow and drug my feet to put snow on them often. I was disappointed in the wear but maybe I can still get some mile out of them.

At that rate those wheels will need some stimulus.

OK, I ordered the marginal snow wheels but now I'm second guessing myself. After looking closer at the sliders the only place the front wheels helped was at the wheel location. so If I add wheels I'm going to stop the wear at that location. Unless they go back to all wheels that articulate with the terrain we're going to see wear. The rails are ridged and trails are uneven so the pressure continuously changes through the humps, bumps and dips. I still believe the aluminum rail start sinking heat from the slides and slows the wear, not the wheels.
The pictures show how the sliders wore in front and behind the front idler wheels but not at the wheels. So do the idlers slow the wear?

Did anyone install Yamaha accessory wheels kit on XTX skid? What is the best placement with most noticeable wear on front of the skid?
