Here are a few pics of damage...it kinked right on the corner where the boot is rivoted...the left shock also hit upper a-arm and bent it...

The old frame is not available from Yamaha anymore. Now all frames they sell are those stronger ones.

Welcome to the club :o| I have the updated 2010 subframe and I managed to bend it aswell without hitting anything.

Yep, doesn't take much to bend the original. New is stronger...

They're about $800 in Canada and $450 in the States.

Hmmmmmm and our dollar is worth more??

Warranty covered my frames. New frame is a lot stronger, but not strong enough. That's why I welded some reinforcement to it.
I also welded lover A-arms nuts to the frame. Original holes for A-arm bolts are little too big, so the bolt can move in its hole if it gets a hair lose. That causes A-arm to get more movement to bend the frame.

BTW, new subframe is 900 euros in Finland. That's about 1200 USD :o|

You would think Yamaha would have this issue fixed by now..i understand that some people may have hit things too hard but i've read about people bending them and not even knowing how it happened..I have a 09 subFrame in my 08 RTX(it was updated by a Yamaha dealer) As far as im concerned these Nytro's are a work in progress for Yamaha...i love the Sled but I think i'll be on a 2011 or 2012 Apex next season...How can Yamaha justify $800 Can and $450 US????

I have a spare in my shop ( subframe that is ), Hay GRIMM do you use that horn much

A spare frame is always agood idea. I think Grizztracks sells reinforcements plates that you can weld in to strengthen the subframe.

I've only ridden a couple of days this season, gave a blast of my horn and turned some heads. ;)!
