HI, yall remember me. i finally got a grizz after two months of wanting one.i just got back from the dealer. shes running great!!the IRS is sweet. :rocks: :-o

hi, thanks . um my grizz gets hot and the fan turns on with in like 1 min of cranking it up? whats with that?.i have not drove it anywhere but around the yard so far and with in 5 mins hot as crap.i kno this is normal as everyone says. im very happy with it. its a big difference from my 2wd honda rancher which i will never buy a honda again.the honda is ok but the grizzs IRS rocks and the seat is way comfy and alot more features makes it better!well thanks again. any info will be much apreciated! :rocks: :yam:

Is the radiator plugged with mud? That's the first place I would check.

no its brand spanking new and only drove on pavment. the dealer just got it yesturday and hasnt even put no miles on her!so theirs no mud on it,

If your just putting around the yard there is probably not enough air flowing through the radiator. The temps would come up quickly and the fan will come on. I am sure that is all it is.

I just bought the 07 grizzly 660 and have 10.8hrs on it. When I first started it up and ran it it seemed to be very hot too. The right side of the bottom of the seat was hot and I could even smell a hot plastic smell and the fan would come on very quickly too. But I dont think the engine was getting overly hot. After riding it a couple of times about 2-4hrs it doesnt feel or smell hot anymore although the fan still seems to come on pretty quickly but I think that is normal. The temp light has never come on and it runs perfectly.

hi, i was wanting to know after about how many miles or hrs do i need to go get the bike the first break in service?i believe the yammy dealer guy said at 15 hrs bring it in for the first service.i have looked in the manual i cant find it. so any help from the pros or anybody would be much apreciated for a first time grizzly owner like me! :yam:

My book shows the periodic and general maintenance chart starting on pg,8-3. The first maitenance is at 20hrs, it may not be a bad idea a little sooner to get the old oil and gear lube out im not sure. My yamaha dealer says 20hr maintenance is about $240.00 but they adjust valves change all fluids and a bunch of other stuff. The book shows it all in there. The book also shows break in time is about 20hrs but the service departments at four different dealers I have called say after about 10 or so hrs ride it how your going to ride it, not sure about that either. <CAUTION> This is my first grizz so my advise or info is probably worth what you are paying for it.

Congrats on the new machine!! You will love it. :yam: I just got my 2006 this year and changed my oil the first time at about 10 hours to get the intitial shavings out. Then I changed it at 30hrs, and will at 60 hrs.. I plan to look at my valves at around 75 hours, as I see no use in going in at 20 hrs like the shop says....It needs enough heat cycles to settle in IMO.

Don't worry about the fan coming on, as new motors do run a little on the hot side as they wear in. If your overheat light comes on, you got an issue. Do try to only ride for short periods of time, the stop to let it cool a while. This will ensure a proper break in.

Also, if you change your oil use Yamaha oil and filters during warrenty period just in case something goes wrong with your quad.

Have fun!!!! :-o
