I have heard this from 3 different guys.....................

Into the weed I see. :x

I wouldn't of posted this If I hadn't heard it from 3 different guys that don't know one another. One is my dealer who's pretty tight with a Yamaha rep. The story is that this engine was suppose to be released originally but wasn't ready yet. It was quicker to retro fit the R-1 Engine.

I'm just having fun
The turbo part might be reaching. It would put a hurt on the RX-1.

I hear ya about the turbo, but it makes sense. I don't think a naturally asperated 4-stroke twin that size would generate enough HP without a turbo. I'm sure Yamaha would want this sled to run with a Firecat and not a z-370

As far as putting a hurting on the RX-1, I'm sure the Genesis would still pull it on top :D

Ok, lets day dream and say there's a 2 cylinder big bore twin coming.

Imagine the chassis it could ride in! Narrower, lighter, with even better mass centralization. This could be snox worthy, but it's about 100cc too many ;)

There seems to be some credibility to the new skid rumor, but I've been hearing it for far too many years to get my hopes up. Yamaha will still sell sleds next year with the current line up, and we wouldn't want them going backrupt if this winter turned to spring next week...

We all want Yamaha to come out with a competition killer, but it's not likely, probable, or gonna happen. Expect to see a broadening of the 4stroke lineup, no 2 strokes, and better touring sleds.

Yamaha has been taking a beating on their rear suspension from consumers for a while, and the press has not exactly been kind either. I just read the "Clash of the Performance 600s" in the Dec SnowGoer magazine. Of course the Venomless Venom came in last when compared to the F6, Rev 600 HO, and the 600 Pro X2. What surprised me was how SnowGoer really ripped Yamaha on their suspension. I think 2005 might be the year we see a new or upgraded rear skid. :|

From SnowGoer
While the rear suspension has had a few upgrades over the years, it's still the basic ProAction Plus suspension that Yamaha has used for seven years. In short, it's outdated and has fallen behind the times compared to what the other manufacturers have to offer.
