I started sledding late in life, 3 years ago. I started on a 1987 Polaris Trail 500 and quickly graduated to a more powerful machine, a 1995 Skidoo Mach 1. The Mach was a nice machine but an old suspension and I convinced my wife to let me buy a new sled. I dont get an opportunity like that very often so I knew I had to make a very good choice on a sled because I would have it for a very long time.
My friend, Power-Rush, bought a new Warrior. What a beautiful machine. I was originally looking at a 2004 GSX 800 but after seeing and hearing the Warrior I knew the GSX didn't cut the mustard. Power-Rush and his dad, Reynald, have been true blue Yamaha guys for along time. They sold me on the dependability of a Yamaha and that 4- stroke motor is just so truly awesome. I had to have one. I checked out the Yamaha web site and fell in Love with the Limited Edition models which unfortunately where a spring check only color and here it was October.
I checked all the local dealers and no one had an extra Limited Edition to spare. Reynald, made a phone call to his Yamaha dealer in Fort Kent and was able to get a RX-1LE. So Power-Rush and I made a dash for it (357 miles in 4 1/2 hours, you do the math).
Not only did Reynald find me my dream sled and Power-Rush travel all the way up there with me to pick it up, they also invited me to go with them to their hometown, Claire New Brunswick Canada for a week long snowmobile trip. They have been doing this father-son trip since Power-Rush was old enough to drive a sled. They showed me the area pointing out relative's houses, old haunts, took me to the sugar shack (where I ate pigs feet for the first and last time) and taught me to speak a few words in French. They made me feel like part of the family. Taking that trip with them was something special that I will always remember and look forward to if invited again.
I once heard if you have "One True Friend" in your life you are fortunate. I guess I have been blessed twice. Thank you Reynald and Power-Rush for all that you have done for me, if ever you need my help you will have it.. I really Love my sled and had a great time on the trip.

thanks Troy. that was an awesome post.
you know that
you are welcome to come with me and my dad riding anytime.
i don't think my dad will go all out at the sugar shack like he did
this year though.
no more pigs feet either. as far as you ever needing help.... you know
we'll always be there and i'm sure i'll be able to count on you in
the same way.
i'm truly glad you love you RX-1.
i didn't want you to have any
regrets for changing your mind about the gsx. next year my dad
will have his new candy apple red RX-1 and we'll have a blast.
until then i guess we can just enjoy the warm weather and do some
atv riding and cruising in the jeep wrangler.
enjoy the summer
