I made a fatal mistake...

Yes they do sip oil, especially the 850s. The accessories are very well thought out, and the belt changing is very nice. All sleds have their pros and cons forsure, I’m almost 100% convinced this sled isn’t for me. The viper was awesome from the very start!

Blown belts, poor fuel and oil mileage and front handling still not on par with Pro Cross or axis. My Doo buddy buys new every year and he said last chance for them. His 17 850 has all the issues stated. Now his 18 is looking promising.

Without sounding like I am defending a brand I could give a crap about, the Etec 600's in our group (6 of them) all get 18mpg on a regular basis when riding hard. And use between a gallon or two per season of oil. So obviously the 850 is a different animal as all of the above doesn't refer to any of the SkiDoo 600 ETEC's I have seen. At least no more than any other brand on the belt issues. They all joke that they spent way too much money on belts and Lync Fuel cans that they have never used in 8 years. Sorry the fuel cans they have used, for the firecats and crossfires. OMG, they all get single digit mileage.

Tell him to get a winder! I don’t need that much power that’s why I’ll go back to a viper. I know them well too, it’s hard learning a new product lol

Several of the 600 etecs I rode with have bit the dust over the last three years. Seems to be that 9 to 10,000 km are the most they want to do. The guys are going to 4 strokes now.

The 600 etecs are only good for 10k, the 600 carbs are amazing! 20k + easy...

But that

Not 600's I am talking about. 850 ridden same trails as me and filling at same station as me. 3 gallons more fuel everytime. Very close to running out. Light on and I had over 1/4 tank left. Buddy has bought new 800's and now 850's every year. He is HardCore Doo. If he has another belt eating gas and oil sucking year this year he will not be buying another. Yes he is thinking either a Axis or Winder for next year. But hoping the issues have been straightened out. So far so good except for fuel. 18 is still a pig.

850's run strong to 110mph. Sips oil, fuel is subjective to throttle position. And the two biggest complaints are.....

1) ski lift, when not even trying hard.
2) wind protection

The Polaris Axys is really coming Along. But I'm just getting used to gas & go......

My friend that has that 2010 has 14000 km un cracked and is running strong still...yearly maintained and taken care of.

My buddy got rid of his with just over 20kms all original. If your going to get a 600 doo, might as well make it a carb.

I was extremely warm with my tall windshield on my viper, I could go out in -20 and not worry about being cold.
Although the ski lift is fun, it worries me coming out of a corner and not being able to steer.

im not sure im sold on ski doo...i ride with a bunch, the 600 etecs are darn good on fuel but all of them trade them before warranty is up lol....My cousin bought a 2014 800 etec same year i bought my 7000...at 4500kms the bottom end blew out....dealer redid the engine and the next season nothing but injector faults. Today he text me to come save him his entire injector assembly blew right off....They all blow threw sliders all the time too.

Ive put more miles on this weekend then my cousins been able to get in 2 years......i love this sled, it just goes and goes. Little pre season and ride

All the more reason to switch back.
