I already have a Garmin 60 CS, but i feel it gets to small. Its great for finding the trail if the weather gets bad, but to small to actually navigate after when searching for new terrain and such things.
Any suggestions on what to buy?
A buddy of mine has a Garmin gpsmap 276c, which i think is a very suitable unit for my use.
Thanks

What did you use to mount your Garmin?
Just picked up a Montana 600 last week and have been trying to think how to mount it on the bars.

I bought a Montana gps this year to replace my Nuvi. I purchased the "rugged mount" http://www.gpscity.ca/garmin-montana-6x ... cable.html and mounted it using this RAM handlebar mount http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-garmin- ... ga46u.html
It holds the unit securely and I don't have to fiddle with plugging in a mini usb cable to the back of the gps like I did with the Nuvi.

The larger "marine" units look awesome, as do the motorcycle Zumo series gps', however I couldn't justify spending that much money for either of them. If you could find them for a decent price, then go for it.

It is cradled in the AMPS mount attached to a home made bracket. I bent 2 pieces of mild steel in a U shape and attached it to the bottom of the handle bar bracket with some longer SS bolts and bridged on top with a piece of aluminum stock.

Thanks for sharing the pics of your mount. Very nice.
I have the AMPS Rugged craddle as well.
Just have to figure out how to load the darn thing with trail maps now.

I haven't done that for a while so I can't walk you through it but as I recall I downloaded "Basecamp" from Garmin and it made it easy. It also updates the firmware when you plug your gps into it. Make sure you lock your screen to landscape view when riding so the screen isn't rotating every time you move the bars.

I made a plate to mount on top of the handlebar clamps then used RAM balls, a short arm and a Garmin AMPS to mount my Montana. I also have it wired/fused directly to the battery for always on power.

I use a Zumo 660 -amazing machine designed for motorcycles so touch screen works with gloves on and it has a media player so you can listen to music along with blutooth etc etc. Only downside is price, they seem to be the most expensive out there but that said I've not seen a better unit for a sled application and ive been using a gps on my sled for 6yrs.
Good luck.
