Do I need to add spacers to the tunnel protectors?

Their website is saying 153 studs, or basically 3 per row with them all being in the center. Is this too many? Would 2 per row work or is that not even worthwhile?

Plastic or aluminum backers?

Anything else I need to do?

Thanks :4STroke:

I have a 2011 SE.

2 per row down the center. 1.325 Megabytes. Two is fine for trail use.

Yamaha recommends 5 mm spacers if you "have to stud' and no more than 1.37 studs. I do not have any spacers currently. 1600 km so far this year & no issues with a spec tight track. That is not to say you will not have one.

Aluminum, round, machined washers is what I use. Plastic does not always torque up well. Non machined & square can damage track easier.

My dealer put 171 on for me and did the spacing fix. I haven't had any issues and it hooks up great. Don't forget to put some hyfax on the back so you don't hit the rear heat exchanger.

I used the woody's 1.325" studs with aluminum backers. I am not sure about the pattern but they are all in the center and none on the outside.

I too am trying to figure this stud issue out, Woody's 1.325" w/ aluminum round backers is what my dealer suggested and sounds good to me. 171 in the middle sounds better than 152 w/ some on the outside (Woody's web site). How did they space it? Washers between the tunnel protector (5 mm) or a piece of aluminum? And where does the hyfax on the back go? On the outside of the tunnel protector? how long?

Any pictures of this fix?

yrkviper - I was going to ask the same question, i just got an XTX. I've searched and read several posts but still not sure what the right fix is. Thanks.

In my demo SE I have 1.450 204 with 7* angled backers with no issues, The thing that I did is braced the stock tunnel protection with a piece of 1" aluminum square stock so it can't flex because they used a c style mount that flexs just looking at it.
