SnoTec did a little right up on Fluid Film two issue's ago. They said they saw good results with it in tunnel's to prevent ice build up.
I mentioned it in another post and of course it was a stupid idea! LOL Somone did mention not spraying it directly on heat exchanger's though as it will repel water, guess that makes cense. I sprayed it on the rocker's on my super duty and after a couple high pressure under carriage flushes it still has an oily film. Supose to impregnate in to the pours of metals and stop corrosion also.

I should state that I didn't have any 8jp issues, a lot of guys on here have stated they had issues a lot stated they didn't have issue, I think most of the people that didn't have issues were running some type of aftermarket clutch setup but that doesn't mean that would cure the problem because guys with clutch kits had issues as well. I can't personally say anything negative about the 8jp cuz it didn't give me issues, but obviously there's something wrong

I am totally pissed, I have had belt issue with my sled from day one after 500 miles the belts would start slipping and I would hit the rev limiter. Went through 3 belts in 2200 miles dealer did his thing nothing wrong with the sled and has other people with the same problem. Let me say this there are many people without belt issues but those of us that ride a little harder than others are having problems. I brought this up to Yamaha they looked into it and decided that it is not enough of an issue to be addressed. Now I run the 8DN belt so to make a long story short my friend bought a 15 VIPER and while at the Yamaha Party at Snowdeo in Old Forge expressed his concerns over my belt issue because he rides with me. THE REP TOLD HIM TO TELL ME TO STAY OFF THIS SITE well apparently the people on this site are the only people that have belt issues. I hope the Rep. reads this because after 15 new Yamaha’s they may have just lost a customer. Also to add insult to injury the PARTY SUCKED and they left. When I change to a different manufacture so will my friends because we all stick together. I spent the money and had my driven clutch set up for the 8DN and hopefully all will be good. If Yamaha would just say we know some people are having issues and we are sorry but not enough people are complaining to have Yamaha do something, I could somewhat understand, but tell me to stay off this site I say YAMAHA GO @#$% yourself. Thanks for letting event and to the guys that helped with the fix thanks.
I changed to cat for that reason: I had an SRX blow up(oil pump unbolted itself), Had my RX-1 put a rod through the block - well enough of that!! And like you I was the only fella having these problems! I had enough - and funny I took had a dozens friends with me! There's not a stock sled that has a chance against this cat..I do 133mph(my Apex 117mph - and it's a good running Apex!!) Ride wise - the Apex is too low for me anyways - I'm older so the cat fits me very well - and the performance is second to none..I have the 4 map on it and no Apex with a Yamacharger or 5lb kit has a chance - it's not even close...Anyway - like you I had like 15 Yamaha's and it's never been their fault! My 2005 RX-1(same skid as Apex) had no grease fittings, the skid fell apart after the first year(nothing, no good will) Then the 2006 has grease fittings!! Good luck with Yamaha - me and my circle of friends are mostly cat - and not looking back now...I'm the happiest I have ever been!

Sucks to hear about belt issues or any issues for that matter. By the way, hello everyone. This is my first post. Been riding Yamis up in "the county" (Maine) since 1999. Fav sled I've owned is 07 attak w/ohlins shocks, Simmons skis, 08 rear skid upgrade, 1.25 ripsaw/studded, slightly taller windshield and a "power up" kit. Certainly never had any belt issues as I would run my sleds 7k miles before changing belts. Always loved Yami for their engines (two or four stroke), reliability/durability. However, It's a give n' take w/all of the big four.
Here is my beef with Yamaha: They are way too slow with implementing their existing technology into their own product line. Example; when they came out w/the apex in 06, why did it take the third model year to see the 120 (carb) in the apex? The mid fuelie appeared in the two-up in 08. Why did it take three model years to appear in the apex? Why did we never see the 150 Genesis in a two-up? We are in the second model year with the SR Viper lineup and only one engine choice and no two up? Why did it take so damn long to come out with a real ski?
The list goes on. The other three are doing things quicker. Yes. They likely have more issues but Yami has the reliability/durability thing in check (although, I'm not that up to speed on issues since cat merger), so I believe they can and should react quicker.
I'm looking forward to the next generation "all Yamaha" snowmobiles (sorry cat!). So, what would I like to see?
Next generation of Genesis four strokes in a new platform and all new suspensions that focus on ergos, fuel economy, performance and ride quality.
I also feel that they should offer a couple of two stroke engines that would be housed in the low priced sleds and possibly the ditch bangers. Would also like to see a total revamp on the VK Pro and more models in this category.
Lower priced sleds are very important to the snowmobile industry and to the big four.
Look at what polaris is doing? They (finally) not only have a good platform, but they are offering many types of nice rides for not alot of jing.
Yamaha should be paying close attention to this. Given how few sleds they've been building for the past many years, they must be losing millions of dollars each year.
Not everyone can afford 12-15K for sleds.
I'm a high miler. My sled of choice would be a ltx/dx w/the mid fuelie. Wait. They don't make such a sled. How bout a switchback w/Yamis mid performance fuelie? I'm getting silly.
Anyways, I trust lots of you who bleed blue will agree with most of what I mentioned and hope some of the reps see it as well.
Happy new year everyone and ride safe!

Grunter, you have a tuned Cat comparing to an Apex? To bad you weren't closer, I have a 5.5 LB Apex would love to run you! It makes 215HP at 5.5 LB. What would be an even bigger joke is if you set yours at 5.5 LB,LOL! now if I turn up the boost to the same HP as yours it will be real interesting won't it? I understand the Turbo cat is capable of big power but to come in to a Yamaha site and talk like you are is ignorant.
Do we really have to get in to the problem's Cat has had with the Turbo's? And cat didn't get everything handled immediately, more like years with clutching and reverse problems! No one is immune!
Oh ya mine GPSed 131 at 5 LB on good snow!
