Post in TY/site help everyone should read asap!

Tom, I have to say this IS the BEST snowmobile site on the WEB hands down. Your a cool guy that made a great site and shares it with everyone. Thanks for all that you do.

Please don't close the site.

I joined TY the first year that Tom started the site. I'm member 157 on TY 2-Stroke (cough, cough) before Tom started the 4-Stroke site. I've met Tom just a few times. I'm sure that you've all heard that first impressions are lasting impressions.

Everytime that I've talked to Tom I can tell you that he's one of the most passionate guys that I've met about Yamaha snowmobiles. Like the lyrics in the James Taylor song "You've Got A Friend": "Winter Spring Summer or Fall, all you've got to do is call, and you've got a friend". For anyone that has met Tom you know what I'm saying.

There is no better snowmobile website than TY. Can anyone else step up to the plate with what you're doing now and do a better job?

Thanks TY.

I think maybe its time the mods are given more freedom to just ban some people. If the ban button is already there for the mods maybe its high time to start using it more often. These bad apples need to be thrown out before they ruin the whole orchard!

I think the main thing that is happening here is that the site was built and designed to help and meet other Yamaha snowmobile enthusiasts. a place for people to come and hang out, talk about wrenching on their sled and maybe get together for a ride or two. The original design is a fun place for gearheads to hang out and have fun. When that is taken away and people start bashing each other and stubborn know-it-alls get involved and can not handle exepting that they are wrong, That is when the fun factor of a friendly site gets lost. Really, what is the use of keeping it open, if all it is, is a Bashing site?

Maybe Tom should delegate the day to day stuff away to the mods and let them handle stuff for awhile.

And then maybe Tom should just walk away for the rest of this year -- and just forget about TY for awhile.

Even stuff we're passionate about can burn us out. And it sounds like Tom is burned out. I mean this with all good intentions, not bad at all. Working on something like TY so hard for so many years could burn anybody out.

Then maybe re-assess next year.

Tom, you've worked so hard to create this beautiful site. And an awesome site it is!!!!

But once the plug is pulled it would be tough to re-build it. And I'm sure nobody wants to see that happen, except maybe the owners of Arcticchat, tec...

Tom, I know you don't know me well, but my advice is to delegate your role to another for some time and just take a break. A good long break if need be. Mental health is a tough thing and sometimes a break will re-ignite the fire in you.....

This site is the best out there, without a doubt!

Here is some good reading for those that are concerned and wondering about some of the threads gone bad. This is the stuff that will cause the downfall of TY. It is not the bashing of Yamaha but the Bashing of each other.

http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... c&start=15

it all starts about half way down the second page.

Tom in my opinion every body that chimed in after you warned them should say by by then maybe others would get the hint that your sick of it you have rules for a reason and what you say goes period if you need to give mods more power (I don't know how much they have ) and you don't have to deal with ALL of the stress and they can deal with them just please don't shut site down most of us rely on it to keep sleding

I'm considering a 4-tec or a new Apex. This site has huge influence on my decision. I've been to Dootalk. Not near the expertise and way more bashing of other sleds. But I haven't been there a lot so maybe I should give them more of a chance.

I also think this site is run pretty well. Some of the others are brutal in the child-like behavior!

I think we all just need some snow and be able to ride. We are all cranky and a little on edge.

Thank you for the site. I would not like to see it go away. I didn't think the guys were too bad in that thread.

I bought a new XTX and I new what I was getting. Hindsight I would of gotten another FI Vector and a 4 wheeler.

Why was the thread not shut down and the one member given a little holiday for breaking a major site rule? I think the site is too forgiving on the rules showing authority is a presence that will go a long way to curb this kind of thing from happening again. The site is getting bigger there are people here who are going to break the rules just to break the rules. There is no way the good members on this site need to lose the site because of a few who need to be banned for a month or two!

Wrong you dont tell another member to just shut up without being banned for a month in my book anyhow!

IF you have been on any message boards this kind of stuff happens. I am just saying this site is awesome and some of the stuff people get mad about is not that bad IMHO. My opinion doesn't matter because I am not a moderator or the owner.

Mr Sled thanks again for the great site and if I ever meet you consider your drinks free.

That kind of stuff does happen on message boards but it is not right or welcome here and that is where the frustration comes in. Our job is too stop and/or prevent this from happening but then people get offended and say that the Big Blue Iron fist is not letting them voice their opinion. You can voice you opinion but just don't be a Jack Wagon to other people. Treat others as you wish to be treated. The intentions are to have fun talking about sleds not to be bashing others!

I agree with you totally.

Funny thing is, after they get all juvenile, Tom will say something, then they get even MORE Juvenile, Tom finally has to ban 'em.
All is good, or at least seems good.

They then goto other sites where personal bashing is considered a "sport" and make all kinds of personal attacks on Tom/TY specifically.
Saying things such as "I don't need a Daddy to tell me what I can do or not do!"

Well... Maybe they do need a Daddy.
Otherwise no-one WOULD have to say anything about their behavior.
They know the rules to start with, & when reminded of the rules, they want to argue them, rather than understand them.
Their parents failed to teach them about rules & the world.
So Tom gets stuck with it.

(Their issue most likely isn't really Tom or anything else, it is usually an internal issue they have, just Tom/TY becomes the re-directed focus for their personal issues.)
They couldn't act ridiculous here, so they feel they have to act that way SOMEWHERE.
Think it's in their make-up and they can't really help it.

Then to make matters worse, sometimes people just goof-up, not really meaning to be a hassle, yet the leaders hear so much junk that it gets harder to sort out the idiots, from the people that just goofed up.
So sometimes they get banned when maybe they were really ok, just got mixed up in the garbage from others.

From a "running the show" perspective, it gets old.
Life is short without enough happy times anyway, (let alone enough snow!), so it becomes a situation of asking yourself, "Is it worth it?"

May be way, way off base here, yet believe that is right about where Our Fearless Leader is at mentally right now.

A break is probably a really good idea, we have some great Mods that do well with running things.
Would suggest depending on them a bit more, and take some personal time to relax for a bit.

Rock :-o
