I just installed a 9993H Ice Ripper track that was purchased second hand but was still 'new in the box'. It's the older model that had the perforated clips every third window. Until now I had a fully clipped Predator with 144 studs and had no Hyfax issues- I would get more than 1000 miles out of them. This year with the Ice Ripper they wore right through after 300 miles. I caught it just as the plastic started to tear but no metal contact so pretty lucky there. The wear is just after the bend at the front of the rail and is very defined to that area. Now what? I was thinking of adjusting the limiter straps but they weren't a problem with the old track. Plan 'B' would be to fully clip but that's a lot of work and might have to buy the tool. I like the track otherwise so don't really want to buy another, anyone else solved this problem?

Never had this kind of wear either until i swapped out the Ripsaw for a Ice-Attack. I was getting pretty decent mileaged before and the rear part was giving up first. Now, it is the other way around.... the exact place you show on the picture. My Ice-Attack is clipped on each window so don't bother to go this route. I think both track are pretty similar. I wonder if being a single ply makes the difference ? I always ran my old Ripsaw quite loose so i wonder if those need a little tigher so it does not bounce back on the bent from the sprocket ? ..just an idea... I cranked the tension up last week for a test.

I think the Ice-Ripper and the Ice-Attack are pretty much similar.

Do all the Ice Rippers have the clips with the holes in them? I did notice some small stones and dirt stuck in those holes after one ride and thought that can't be doing any good either.

My cobra track with the holes in the clips did the same thing on my Vector. I had to add 2 sets of marginal wheel kits on mine. My ripsaw clips didn't have holes and never wore there either.

Follow up- I installed a set of black Kimpex Hyfax and tightened the limiter straps about 5/8" (no holes on mine) and after about 200 miles the sliders have only worn about 2mm in the worst spot near the bend. The track tension is about 1.5" sag with 20lbs in the centre. Either the limiter tension makes a huge difference or I had a really crappy set of Hyfax before (or both).

I have an Ice Attack on my Viper. It has 1000 miles on it and the hyfax is still good. The track is clipped every window and every third is a perf clip.

I have an ice ripper XT on my machine. According to the PO the hyfax had about 400 miles on em when I purchased it, and I put about another 300 on and they are completely an utterly worn out, just as bad if not worse than the pictures you posted.

I have had three ice rippers and put thousands of miles on them. Never saw increased hyfax wear. IMO It's the best all around track in the industry. In about 12,000 miles I lost one stud. Great track!
