ice ripper durability

Well, 8000 miles on my Ice-Ripper and it is shot.

I am missing quite a few lugs as well. This is probably because I carve quite a bit in low snow conditions. The ice studs have looked new since the day I bought it. They definitely wear great. I believe my track finally wore out because it was only clipped every third, as you can see the rubber between the two windows without clips started ripping on quite bit of the track. I would durability is a good as any other track out there.

i think im just going to go to a 136 cobra and not stud it

x2, I'm going that way this fall w/the new style 2010 extroverts drive YAM have... I'll have my OEM RIPSAW for sale 136" closed every 3rd w/9300kms or 5800 miles its in EXCELLENT shape, no lugs or rips and never STUDDED.

I'm not a STUD fan and only ride groomed trails, I've heard all but good reports on the COBRA so far...

No problems with my Ice Rippers here. Probably about 4,000 miles on a 136" Ice Ripper on my Attak GT and about 5,000 on my '01 SRX, which is a 121". Then again, I take it easy when conditions are not good and when on the pavment or rocks. So, I am sure how one uses it has alot to do with longevity.

My Ice Claw (the first one out) has about 5000 miles on it and looks great. I just bought the Ice Ripper XT for my Attak. Mine is clipped every window so hopefully that won't happen to me!

I don't know what the tone of the post was, but I also would consider the Ice-Ripper a very durable track, I believe mine just wore out from high mileage. I absolutely love the track on the trails, the studs in it give just the right amount of bite for me.

I really really like mine! just over 2000 miles and looks as good as they day I took it out of the box. I'll burn the frayed cords a couple times a season as they develop with a propane torch to keep it good as new. Excellent trail track!

I have about 3,600 miles on my apex and my ice ripper has only lost one lug. I also burn any little frayed cords as they appear. The missing lug has not gotten any worse, nor ripped at all. I don't think it is enough traction for my needs, but obviously better than a track without any studs at all. I will probably stud it for this coming winter or if I find a used cobra, I'll put my track on my dad's sled.

I sure don't see the appeal with the Cobra track here on TY. I had one on my Turbo Cat and was going to change it out for a Iceripper till I sold the whole sled. Seems the cobra was only better in the powder. I really didn't like the cobra on the trail with 153 studs in it. I felt that it didn't hook as good as the Iceripper in my Attak. It wanted to let go in the corners far easier than the Iceripper. The cobra is 8 MPH slower than a hacksaw on a turbo cat. That is why the LXR or sno-pro is slower than a std. Cat is going to ripsaws in place of the cobras for 2010 to pick up the lost speed with the cobra FWIW.

You sold the Cat?

You sold the Cat? What will you be on for next season?

I'll be riding my Attak GT. The Cat was a Dog! It rode and handled good and that is all I have good to say about it.
