If Yamaha ceased production of sleds...What would you buy?

the SDI will last longer than 5k
Yeah, tell that to my friends who bought new 600 REVs last year. Out of the 5, only 2 of them survived the whole season.
They all suffered from piston ring failures that the Doo deal told them was "normal". It was covered under warranty but a warranty doesnt mean much when you lose half the winter to a major engine failure like that.
Cap'n

Well, let's see....past sleds.00 xcr800,02 xc800,03 zr800efi,wife rides 04 xc6-M10,I now ride the Warrior, I don't think blind brand loyalty is a good thing.A guy needs to keep his options open. Jay

They changed rings, pistons and pots on the 600 HOs for 05 and seemed to have solved the ring flaking problem. I put 3069 Miles on mine this year and it ran great! I love the sled

I'd just keep riding my Warrior Turbo & Rx1 Mtn. Turbo .............Several more years of Mods and They'd be pretty sweet.

By the time Yamaha quits making sleds, Honda will have started; so I'll buy one of theirs. I hear they're coming out with a CRSFX 2450. It'll be a 2450 cc, supercharged, nitro-methane injected, V-8 four stroke making 1350 HP. It weighs 325 lbs and I think they said has a top speed of 275 mph. Should be a good sled for my Mom.

I'd keep the one I have and buy spare drive axle and jack-shaft bearings, and a spare W-arm or Expert-X.

No other 4-stroke powerplant presently matches the Yamaha so if I had to choose an alternative, I'd go back to a Poo, or look for a used Viper, or SRX

I'd just keep the REV 800HO in my garage.....loved everything about it EXCEPT the Oil use and the "jack in the box" reliability.
