Yamaha senior management are very aware of the problem and will discuss with Tokyo the options open to compensate Canadian buyers, several areas have been discussed. Though this is not germaine to this discussion up until 2 years ago we were buying sleds for 20% LESS than the yanks if not more of a discount than that. The other manufacturers are parented for North America in the U.S. while Yamaha U.S. and Canada are totally separate companies and that is an important factor.

If people are still buying the machines in Canada ( like they are ) there is no reason Yamaha to do anything about the price variance.

Yes there is as they have been given the opportunity to show they will do something about the price variance. If nothing is done this season all bets are off for next season and it will be wholesale cross border purchases in the U.S.. They get this last chance to get their act together. If they don't I and others will forfeit our spring check deposit and buy in the U.S. in the fall.

Ok Jim,
I could go for that plan of action I guess .
What would you accept from Yamaha Canada as a minimum in order to complete your purchase in the Fall.
When I went to pick up the 04 Warrior, a second year warranty had appeared out of nowhere. That was worth something.
I don't think that would be enuff this year though.
What say you?

In tha past the srx in Canada always came stock with Ohlins. I don't know will have to see what they come back with. Hopefully they are reading this and will do something to stop this gouging of Canadians.

oh..and as an exdealer...I would definetly still service a sled bought in the US..but it would be after all my paying customers were taken care of. I would think that would go without saying but something to consider...either way its not a good position that the dealers have been put in.

You are right it is the dealer that is getting kicked in the crotch. Not only are they losing sales to the U.S. they are also losing out on market share in Canada. For years they have stuck with Yamaha during the tough years and now are penalized when things finally start to bloom. Why anybody would want to be a dealer in this sport is beyond me.

It's too bad there is such a price difference. I have never bought from the states before but after the Winnipeg show will head down there and purchase 2 machines for a savings of over 4 thousand dollars.

Seems the Boycott Poll was too hot to handle on the main board and was moved to the Lounge. Make sure you cast your vote. Guess Canadian riders don't count.

NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS GETTING WARMER MAYBE WE SHOULD GET TOGETHER AND FORM A CONVOY OF TRUCKS AND SNOWMOBILE TRAILERS AND START JUST OUTSIDE TORONTO AND DRIVE DOWN TO QUEENS PARK, IN A CONVOY. THAT WAY WE COULD GET THE MEDIAS ATTENTION AND THEN WE COULD TRAILER UP TO YAMAHA CANADA'S HQ AND FORM A CIRCLE OF RIGS AROUND THE BUILDING PUT ON SOME MUSIC AND EVERYONE IN THE BUILDING. MAYBE WE COULD GET SOME SERIOUS ANSWERS THEN.

According to the owner of my dealership we will not see anything until fall.
If the prices are still way out of wack, then there will likely be some incentives for the Canadians.
Example ; when I went to pick up my 04 Warrior a second year warranty for no charge appeared from out of nowhere to compensate for some of the decline in the Canuck buck.
Yamaha coming to town with the new sleds on Thursday the 14th here.
Will talk to the Rep then to see if any news.
As of today the spread has declined about 7% from a few weeks ago.
Conversion depending on model was 18 to 22 percent different. Today it is around 11 to 15 percent.
The Canuck buck is in a bit of a free fall recently vs the Greenback.
