Looks like Yamaha has the stock Apex tuned in pretty good in production form. Those of you who upgraded from the RX-1 will be very pleased! The stock settings make roughly 7 hp more to the track than the RX-1 did. After testing it looks as though we will have two stages of clutching available this winter!

Stage 1:
This kit is a very simple cheap upgrade. It retains all stock components in the front clutch and the stock secondary spring while replacing the helix. A cheap upgrade for increased acceleration and maintaining excellent backshifting characteristics.
-Advant-Edge Helix
-$100

Stage 2:
This kit is more for the "tuner" out there. With the highly adjustable Super Tip weights, new primary spring, secondary spring, and helix it is highly adjustable for those varying riding conditions and for those who like to tinker. We'll set them up to your rider weight and riding style! Increased acceleration, strong backshift, and great overall ridability!
-Super Tip weights
-Primary Spring
-Secondary Spring
-Advant-Edge Helix
-$368

Stay Tuned for more Apex products! Summer is heating up and so is new product testing!

How about us Attak guys? I see the Attak comes with a different secondary spring just like the Warrior had a different spring than the RX-1.

The same basic kits will be available for the Attak owners, just slightly different settings to accomodate for the 136'' track.

to srxspec. i have a clutchkit to my 04 warrior. this kit includes an advantage edge helix. is it big diffrense on this helix compared to the one you will use on the attak? i also wonder if the new supertip weights will have oem yamaha busings, because i am not happy with the old style bushings. it makes mutch rattling noise from the clutch spessially when idling

mclarenyamaha, the helix is the same as well are all springs, the only differences are adjustments to the weights themselves. If you're wanting to update your kit from RX-1/Warrior specs to Apex/Attak specs you can contact us via email and recieve the new specs. Also this years weights will use the stock Yamaha pins in the kit.

mclarenyamaha: That rattle sound you hear isn't from the Super tips. It's coming from the busings on the Spider towers. Yamaha makes shims that stop that stop the clutch from rattleing like that at idle.

I ran Super tips and a Dalton weight last year. they both sounded the same at idle.

thanks for the answer jtssrx. when it comes too the rattling i am really sure it comes from the supertip weights, because when i got back to the heavy hitter weights the rattling was gone.

mclarrenyamaha, if you install the weights correctly there should be no problems. The "shoulder" on the bushings must be installed so that they keep the weight centered on the roller, this is the only way I see it possible to cause "rattle" in the clutch. Otherwise there is no real significant difference between the heavy hitters or super tips to cause a clutch rattle. The only other way would be if you didn't have the bolts all the way tightened and they are sliding side to side causing a "rattle" in the clutch.

as far i can se there is only one way to mount the bushings, and then the weights are in senter. i also think that the supertips weight is to tight when installd. i would like an hole in the bushings so that the oem hex could lock up the pin that holds the weight. when the weights move the pin mowes with them. i like the weights to go really easy like the stock weights you now

i se your picture and thats exaktly how i have done it. but with the yamaha oem bushings there shuold bee no problem at all. this is far the best way to fix an weight to a primary as i can se. i dont like the way ac and polaris is doing this.

Just another update after some more testing.....

Stage 1:
This kit is a very simple cheap upgrade. It retains all stock components in the front clutch and the stock secondary spring while replacing the helix. A cheap upgrade for increased acceleration and maintaining excellent backshifting characteristics.
-Advant-Edge Helix
-$100

Stage 2:
This kit is more tunable than the Stage 1 kit, but not as tunable as the Stage 3 kit either. The kit will include Super Tip weights and a Primary Spring while maintaining the stock secondary settings. Still maintaining excellent up and backshifting while offering a wider range of adjustability over stock or Stage 1 kits.
-Super Tip Weights
-Primary Spring
-$252

Stage 3:
This kit is more for the "tuner" out there. With the highly adjustable Super Tip weights, new primary spring, secondary spring, and helix it is highly adjustable for those varying riding conditions and for those who like to tinker. We'll set them up to your rider weight and riding style! Increased acceleration, strong backshift, and great overall ridability!

Hi allen, you say you found 7 hp more at the track of the apex over any stock rx1 ????? Thats very good news, sense yammi only claims 8 more crank hp from 06 models over 03-05 would you say that the chassie is better at getting the power to the ground than on older model rx1s or is it in the clutching that yammi now has.. Did your apex break 80 hp stock?? and what did any of your kits produce over stock for hp,not trying to put you on the spot,so i hope it dosent sound like it,thanks allen..... Pete ;)!

Going off of memory here, I know the stock, stage 1, and stage 3 numbers are correct, don't remember the exact number on stage 2. There was a solid 1.5-2 hp gain in between each stage. Hoping to be in the 87-88 hp (Mach Z killer) range after putting on some more "goodies" that we've been testing!

Stock: 80.11
Stage 1: 82.5
Stage 2: 84.xx
Stage 3: 85.5

Man all this buzz and my new 1:12 scale apex has me fired-up,bring on the snow! oh yeh still need my sled to show-up.

Allen - thanks for sharing this great info with the board.

1) What can you tell us about the new OEM weights with 3 rivet holes?
2) Now that you have had a chance to do some testing how do you think the Apex will perform speed/acceleration wise with a 2000 - 2002 SRX?

Thanks

Bill
