I need to install tie rods but need help with it. How far does the tie rod screw into the inner joint? How much of the outer joint should the tie rod screw into? Do the nuts on the inside but up to the tie rod? Any help installing and adjusting would be great. Also, I read somewhere that there is upposed to be a flat side to these tie rods but the ones on my 08 don't have a flat side at all. I guess it was for a wrench to adjust it?

You want them to have equal threads on the inside and outside prior to making adjustments for toe out. Mine have the flats on them to hold the rod when tightening the inside and outside locknuts ( one is left hand and one is right hand ) I believe the outside is the left hand thread.

That is correct, the tie rod tube has to have a right hand and a left hand thread so you can loosen the jam nuts and twist the tube to adjust the end in or out, if they were both the same thread you would have to physically remove one end in order to adjust the rod ends.

The tube should have either flats so a wrench can hold it while you loosen or tighten the jam nuts, or there will be a turned in circle on one end and that means you need to hold it with a pipe wrench, channel locks, or vise grips to tighten the jam nuts. Either way the cut or the flats go toward the outer tie rod, that's the "inverse" or left hand threads side
