Hey Guys,
I need to install new primary and secondary springs, will I need any special tools? I don't have access to my sled right now and have never had the clutches off this sled yet..Thanks! Frank

BEST ADVICE IS HAVE SOME ONE SHOW YOU THAT HAS DONE CLUTCH WORK BEFORE. ITS EASY, BUT CAN BE MESSED UP TOO. IF YOU LIVED NEAR BY I WOULD SHOW YOU

You dont eaven have to remove the primary clutch to change the spring.. Remove the cover when clutch is sitting on the sled, dont know if u have to take out the bolt that holds the primary on the phazers? (so that the bushings in the cover dont get hurt)
Eather way it is much easier and quicker..

HAHA THAT NOT SMART. BUY A CLUTCH PULLER AND USE A PRESS. IN A PINCH DO IT ON THE SLED. MAKE SURE YOU MARK THE CLUTCH SO THE FACE GETS PUT BACK ON STRAIGHT. I REALLY DONT WANT TO HERE ABOUT SOME ONE GETTING HURT CAUSE THERE CLUTCH EXPLODED.

Its a cover which is machined flat with three inside fingers that makes it fit properly. Just tighten the bolts evenly and to torque specs. I have had mine apart many times. 1500 miles of off trail rinding, no issues.
Guys,
I have worked on clutches, just not a Yami. I had my rev 440 clutch apart a bunch..
I will pull the primary apart and mark it so it goes back the same way. Are there any "buttons" that will come out when I seperate the halves?
What about the secondary, anything special needed?
Thanks again! Frank.

Re: Installing primary and secondary springs, what do I need
Like someone said, for the primary you can leave it on the sled and just pull the cover plate...the spring will relax as you work the bolts out uniformly. Should be a piece of cake.
The secondary you'll have to pull it off the shaft (just that one bolt to loosen). Put it up on the bench and you'll need a good set of ring pliers...put a little force on the helix, pop the ring and that's it. No need for a clutch press IMO and this was that was my first clutch work.
One word of advice, pull out your torque wrench prior to removing anything...get your torque specs, write them down...

Primary only requires a 10mm socket and takes 10 min, secondary requires removal (one wrench) and a good pair of snap ring pliers. Note placement of all shims and setting holes for secondary spring. Take time to clean secondary while it is apart. Put a THIN film of grease on brass center bushings and splines.
