I'm going to install stainless Y pipes on my 2006 Apex. Should I put in OEM donuts or stay with the copper ones I already have. Also which Y pipes, Bender, MBRP, OEM or ?? For a few extra bucks I would rather not do this again. So cost is important but long life is more important.

I went with the OEM stainless pipes. 6 seasons no issues with the pipes.

I've had oem for many thousands of miles now. I'd say 9000 on my set. I have copper donuts for the last 2000 and they have been fine. I've never heard of anyone complaining about them failing.

That is true. When my flex pipe cracked I had put copper's on it just about 200 or 300 miles before and it wouldn't come off. I didn't pry or try Dremil cutting cause I was throwing it out any way. I put a new one on and left the old ones on the other Flexpipes and it worked out fine.I too have heard no complaints except for tring to get them back off.

I think they upgraded the donuts but I'm not sure. Many here have used the Copper ones and I've never seen an issue with them except they are tough to get off compared with OEM's.I'm doing the ss y pipe update now and Im sticking with oem donuts.
When I do mine I change and don't reuse head gasket and the woven gasket that connects the muffler to the exhust. They are cheap enough and I don't want to take a chance on them.

I just changed out my pipes to OEM SS and used copper on one set of y pipes and stock donuts on the other side.
Be interesting how it plays out over the next couple of years.
