I just bought a set of the WRP running boards for my 08 MTX, and was wondering if anybody has any tips for installing them. It says you can either cut out each open section or just cut the whole thing out. What works best? Any measurements would also help a lot! Thanks

Honestly I cannot see cutting out each individual window. I used a mini grinder with a cutting disk to cut the inside and outside long cuts and used a jigsaw to cut both ends from underneath. Just put the boards in place and mark it with a sharpie and get cutting!! It took about 2 hours from start to finish. There seems to be lots of support after cutting out most of the board.
The only thing I would have like to see in the kit were black rivits so it matched the boards.

I cut the whole thing out, used tin snips also you dont really need measurements just slide them in place and get the old sharpie out.

Cutting each window out will not work ... the stock traction holes end up being right where you'll need material for the "added strength" .... just cut the entire thing out. Probably meant for some other brand install ...
I bought a cutting disc to fit my angle grinder .... masking tape the tunnel to prevent scratches as you cut along.
Take your time ...... set position, sharpie around the inside of the holes, cut, re-check positioning, trim. I re-set three times to be sure it was perfect..... 'cause if you mess that up ... the simple install becomes an expensive install. A little light filing to take of the sharp edges. Pound the remaining stock traction edges flat with a hammer and anvil. Need to be flat for a good fit.
I used some vice-grips and C-clamps to hold the WRPs down and against the tunnel to rivet together. Good tight fit that way. And an air riveter was a must .... bought one for $60 at Princess Auto ..... worth every penny. Drill .. rivet .. drill ... rivet ..... don't get excited and drill all the holes first .... something always moves an 8th of an inch, and then it's too late.
I added 2 rivets at the "toe" of the WRPs .... mostly because there were some extra rivets, and a little added strength. And there will be two rivets that stick up onto the deck of stockers from the outside edge of the foot holes ... drill those out too. They get in the way of a tight flat fit at the toe. Add two longer rivets (WRP gives you extra) to sinch it all back together. (you'll have to drill through the WRPs at that spot ...)
You'll be done in an hour or two depending on the flow of beer ....
Best mod you'll ever do, and easy as pie. I should have taken pics as I went .... but I can send you some of the finished product or pointers if you need/like....
