No thats pretty average for most people. A average about 2000 miles a year.

A average 2400+. I have seen sleds with 25,000 miles still running like day one.

Thats nothing for miles...
Thats because the people think that many miles is alot for ALL snowmobiles, which is true for other manufacturers which require ring chnages around then. But for a yamaha, especially the triple, that is nothing for kms, the engine is totally sound, and nothing else should be worn out.
I have a 2000 venture XL, which has 20 000kms on it, and it 100% mint shape, you would ever know so many kms are on it, and no real work besides a track change was done.

Guys, he is riding a mountain sled in Alaska, not trail riding on the flat lands. A long 75 mile day in the mountains is equivalent to a 300 mile ride on flat land.
Wanna4Stroke, I suspect 7000 miles on a 2-stroke engine could be part of the problem. You probably need to discuss if it has been rebuilt, engine parts maintained, etc.

FYI I've never seen a sled with more than 5k miles for sale here in Montana.

I just sold an '02 Cat with 7300 miles on it. I sold it on consignment at my dealer and even they said the mileage will make it a bit harder. There were a lot of questions being asked that's for sure! Especially about the top end!!! I did a complete top end at 5000 miles, which definitely helped the deal. The other thing was maintenance and that sort of thing. I always try to take good care of things so keeping it clean will help you out a ton. Appearance is everything!!!!! If it wasn't for my Boss Seat and Arctic FX Graphics, I would probably still be sitting on it or I would have to pretty much give it away!!!! The salesman told me it sold because "the guy liked the way the hood looked!" Go figure!!!!

i was thinking the same thing 75 miles in a day sun up to sun down is about all my group can get on a good day. deep pow and hill climbing will eat all the gas and spare in about 60 miles for most of our rides. so yes 7500 on a mtn sled is a ton.Swiss Sledder said:Guys, he is riding a mountain sled in Alaska, not trail riding on the flat lands. For a Mtn. Max up here that's not above average for the year, but yes, most people will be leary about a 2 stroke with that many miles. Do a little research but I think it would pay off to to a top end rebuild, (pistons, rings, & bearings). With that little work you can get a quicker sale for more dough. Keep the old ones handy and show the buyer what good condition it was in when you did the "Preventative", not "Reactive" maintenance. Good luck.

In my experience, hardly anyones' sled ever makes it past 5000 miles because they get sold off and quickly become 2nd or 3rd hand sleds and the maintenance goes downhill just like the riding skills of the operators and they end up burned down or wrecked. A few years ago when snocross was really popular in town I used to joke about one of the trailer courts being a Pro-X graveyard.
In the past I tended to get rid of two stroke sleds in between 2000-3000 miles. I put over 5000 on a 500 Indy and the sled was pretty clapped out even though the motor still ran fine.
I'd be leary of a 2-stroke mountain sled with 7000+ miles no matter what the brand.

I've never had a sled that I sold with less than 5k. I sold my vector with over 6k on it and that was the least amount of miles on any sled that I've ever sold.

7000 on a 2 stroke is by my standards ALOT..
my buddies zr800 was rebuilt 3 times in 11,000 miles.. his old 600 war rebuilt 4 times in that amount of time..
IMO a sled with 7000 miles is worth 2K or less depending on the codition..
