I want to upgrade to mountain 4 stroke but which one?

to a Mountain 4 stroke. Dealer has me almost convinced to buy the 08 Nytro MTX. But that's a lot of cash. I can not afford to be a guinea pig for new style's. I go sit on it every other day.

I've been thinking of the RX-1. Dealer says to stay away form 03 and 04's because the nose is heavy- but aren't they all. There are some 05's for sale. Or maybe an 06 APEX.

I do not highmark just boondocking in the Alaska wilderness. I have a 2000 MtnMax 700 with full ohlins, rack and hitch with 7000 miles. Nothing wrong with it. Just want the new technology.

Help me make my mind up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you put real skis on the 03 or 04 they float rather well. I put real mountain skis on my 04 and what a difference. If your not doing any radical riding the the RX-1 is a fine machine. I would get the 05 rx-1 if I could because the suspensiion is better.

Just remember the Nytro MTX should be a lot lighter than the rx-1 Mnt or Apex Mnt. with almost as much power.
I have never ridden the Mountains but would love to some day.

you would be crazy to not buy the 08 and to buy the 03,04..

they both have the same HP, but the 08 has a lot less weight and will float a ton better, not to mentiokn the center of gravity will be better..

Spend the money, its worth it.

Depends on what kind of riding he is doing and what his budget will allow. With real skis on my 04 she floats no problem in the deep stuff. If all your doing is riding in deep stuff where maneuvering is not critical then the older sleds will work for you. If you have to do some serious maneuvering the Nytro would be the way to go. The older sleds lack in handling and are a bit heavier that is a given.

I have never ridden an RX-1, but theory is that you would be paying a lot of money for the RX-1 and the technology is 5 years old.

If you're doing your riding down in the Pass or Turnagain I will highly suggest going with no less than the '06 Apex Mtn. I got to ride the '08 Nytro MTX this spring and if there is anyway you can afford it go for it. I got off my Attak to ride it and had a grin from ear to ear the whole time. It's one of the funnest mountain sleds I've been on.
I've seen the RX-1s down in summit and they go pretty good but it's way too much work IMO. After a long day riding all of us on our MM 700's would sit by the fire enjoying a beer while the RX-1 guy would load up on Advil and go to bed.

man if ur riding a 2 stroke even the 03 will be a lot of fun i bought 1 last year for 5000 and it kiks #*$&@ i came from a 700 polaris never to return. sure the newer ones are better but i couldnt afford one so the 03 is workin just fine 4 me so have fun
