Very possible Dan, but there was 2 of us measuring exactly each belt the best we could & the XS was 1/4'' longer then the Carbon no matter what we measured with or how we did it. It was also thinner.
I firmly believe the XS is similar to the 8DN performance wise & these 2 would be the best choices once adjusted for.
But nobody has done this &/or proven with high miles yet on a stock set up.
Most guys just want simple fixes & just installing this belt, on my very close to stock set up, it was poochy.
I had, the last 2 years, a very consistent 900 mile belt blower. The carbon blew at 500 & although the 8DN looked new at 500 miles, i lost too much performance without adjusting to continue to use it.
Since i leave my sled in Maine, making large changes is difficult.
KNAPP, who was breaking my balls and is starting to show a sense of humor, pointed out to me i didn't test the 8DN or the XTX. I wish i could adjust for all 5 belts for short term & long term with data logs & pics.
But i ride. My sled is fast enough. I just don't want to change belts on the side of the trail every other day.
I wont ever run a carbon cord with this much HP....They are like rubber bands and wont last, they delaminate fast.
8DN wont perform like a Ultimax or 8JP....8JP will be fastest on top end as its shortest. 8DN is a fair bit longer and will lose 3mph from 8JP I found. Ultimax will also be a tad slower on top then the 8JP but much closer then the 8DN.
8DN can be setup to work well, but top end will always be less....I am more and more believing that the longer belts will last longer simply due to not being stretched as hard. 8DN is a tough one to snap, its also longest and hardest.
It could be the reason the ultimax lasts longer too, being longer. Hard to say for sure. But for me 8JP being so grimy and dirty I wont run that ever anymore. If I was out speed running for every last MPH sure, but for trails and longevity, the Ultimax seems best for me. 8DN would be my second choice and at half the price, a smarter choice.
BTW I measured 2 Ultimax here....one brand new is 44-5/16" and my other with 900 miles on the clock, is 44-7/16"....Did it stretch? Timken says no way no how. Or are they like all belts, and not all exact same. I used to spend hours at my dealer with my tape measure finding the shortest belts in my speed days. 1/8" difference always from belt to belt was normal, and made top end faster.

The Carbon scares me also. The XTX is short like the Carbon, but i'm told is harder. I may order one to try out

Just ordered one.
I can test it against the 8JP next week.
Next week i will have top speeds when i hit the "county".
I should hit at least 1000 miles on one of the belts also.

OCD what was your offset last year?
First year it was 61mm.
I removed shim to 60mm.
57.5mm this year. the Hurricane tool wanted 57mm if i was to be exact.

I just measured my other new belt measurements exactly the same as my pic width and length. The belt I have 1100 kms on 1/8” longer now and .020” narrower. But clutch’s are clean like day one.I wont ever run a carbon cord with this much HP....They are like rubber bands and wont last, they delaminate fast.

What kind of vents are you running
I used the Mo-Flow in front because they match the shape of the plastic & come with the sno-proof material. I bought different size plain vents for the back at about $1 a piece on Amazon.
I even cut a notch out of the rear of my clutch & put a vent right behind it.

Nicest Vents i've seen are from Speedwerx....
https://www.speedwerxstore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=3652
I have designed a chute to focus the air from front stock screen to clutches, but these vents would also be nice. I still say these clutches are the coolest Ive run of all sleds i've owned since my apex.

My feet are always hot as I always sweat riding all over....one reason I have always run very low windows is my tight trails type here means a ton of work when we ride hard, which is 95% of the time...lol. So I only get to cool off when we get to the lakes, which we have alot of luckily. Perfect example is last weekend, high temps of minus 20c and I run with my vents in my coat all unzipped/wide open. LOL. But hit the lakes and I need to close the vents fast.lolI agree with you and also those are nice looking vents. For some strange reason my left foot gets cold never did last season.and also the 2 others guys I ride with on winders do to.
I do like the Speedwerx vents alot...I would have to drill out the top section of my BOP belly protector if I decide to install one of these vents. I find the chute works well for me now.

Nice find Dan,I like the fact that they have S.S.mesh screen on the aluminum cut plates, seems to look like it may even last a severe blown belt better than the MO-Flow vents, but those wents seem to get a lot of air in as well,i just don't think they will last a blown belt as well.
