Is anyone else finding broken primary springs?

Not sure if it's just me because I am involve with many 998's (flashing/maintenance) but I came across 3 broken primary springs this week!!!!
1-one guy was out sledding up north sledding and texted me
2- I was setting up a guy's winder with a tune and when I pulled clutch apart to install dalton weights and spring was in 2 peices
3- i got a text from another friend today and spring was broke!!!

Anyone one else breaking primary springs?
# 1 has 240pm tune
#2 was stock but was in for tune
#3 sm bundle
Try Thunder Products glide washer's kit for the primary clutch.;)!

whats the dalton replacement for the stock pink from the srx?

The Yamaha pink in the secondary? That is an awful spring to use. It coil bids bad and is a very weak finish spring. The closest Dalton secondary you will find to it would be the Dalton Red secondary spring.

OK dalton red for the secondary what dalton spring would replace the yellow in the primary on the srx

Hang on a second, I wouldn't recommend the red on the winders roller secondary, you asked what was comparable to the pink, and the pink is a very light finish spring. IMO I wouldn't be using what Yamaha put in there for the later years for a spring or 35/39 helix. That pink spring coil binds pretty hard up top., unlike the older stock Yellow which does not when set to no more than 60*.

I'd start with the Black/Orange in it the secondary wrapped at 80, and the Black/Bronze in the primary on a stock sled with stock weights.

Thanks mike, can i wrap the pink spring to 6*1 to try or will that make it worse for coil bind, can i machine .1" off the helix to make the stock set up work better, are you a dealer can i buy the springs from you?will both black springs work with the 35/39

You can buy directly from Dalton.

I don't run any stockers, but I'd think Dalton's springs will work fine on the stock helix. I know the stockers used to struggle with RPM on the 35 helix and fully weighted stock arms, not sure how the ones with the 35/39 helix and lighter tip weight are. There are no stockers around here to know. Try it and see, there are rivets in the stock arms you can alter.

If you machine for the spring binding, it also affects the spring pressure, thus requiring more twist which also gets you back to spring bind again. Kind of a 6 of one thing half a dozen of the other. The Ping spring was a bad pick on Yamaha's part to fix a problem that did not exist there. They should have fixed the offset to save belts, not gone softer on the pinch.

The rpm's are perfect pulls 9000 for a sec then 8800 and stays there up too 105 mph in 4" of slop on the lake with a 1.5" storm 150 track just notice secondary squeals on engine braking in hills and tight corners and wanted to try wrapping the secondary to 6*1 from 3*3 since i noticed coil bind or machine ___" off the helix just don't know how much

Is this the same for a stocker 141 xtx sidewinder with the xs825 belt and TP secondary rollers?

If I run a broken primary spring next week for 2,000 km saddlebag trip will my 850 doo and 900t buddies be able to keep up better? Got kindly lonely looking for off trail spots to play while I waited for them to catch up last year.
Hahahaha!!!
