Can someone tell me is it worth adding the auto tune kit to my power commander v ? What are the benefits of running the auto tone if there is any ?

The stock fuel system on the Nytro is an open-loop system. It basically uses pre-ignition information only, no post-ignition information is used to adjust the amount of fuel delivered, intake temp, barometric pressure, coolant temp, TPS etc. An O2 sensor (the main component of the auto tune) will provide feedback on the post combustion condition of the the air. So areas in the fuel curve that may be rich, will be leaned out to nominal, areas that are lean will be richened up to nominal. Basically the stock sled is loaded with a fuel map that has presets, using the pre-ignition sensors, it determines what would be the best fuel delivery set for that given feedback. This occurs X amount of times per second, by the way (I don't know the scan times of the fuel system). Something to keep in mind about stock fuel maps, they OEM, have the ability to set the map to give them the result THEY want at a certain RPM, now EPA, MPG, and cost all come into play when doing so. If you are familiar with EFI Live you know how fuel/timing mapping can change a vehicle. If not, lets just say people are getting piles of H.P and improving MGP, and drivability of GM and Dodge vehicles, it's widely used in the LS and Duramax/Cummins diesel communities. Obviously just adding an O2 sensor, your not going to get a pile of H.P. out of this but the point is that the stock map is cookie cutter for every sled, in every region, and the map is map in a short period of time (low cost).

If your sled is totally stock (except for the controller) you could improve the response and fuel economy of the sled. If you are modified, be it exhaust, intake, porting, etc the auto-tune or addition of O2 sensing would be more beneficial due to the complexity and amount of deviation from the original parameter set you would likely need to be. The O2 sensor will basically allow you to tune the sled without having to go through the trial and error process normally done without it.

Thanks for the info. Is the auto tone sold as a universal part or is it sold model specific ? :rocks:

yes they do, but I was just wondering if there was another way since there fuel controler is pretty $$$$$.
