Is the new viper worth it ?

Haven't taken my sled apart yet but I think i'm gonna put it on the lift pull it apart and see for my self if anything is out of the norm. I'm not really worried about the power train on this sled but the build quality. Everyone knows cat had HUGE QC problems and even my friend Devin who is a engineer at cat admitted it. He said Yamaha helped with the QC but when the time came to build the sleds no one from Yamaha was at the plant.

Check back in a few hours and hopefully my sled wasn't built at 4:45 on a friday!

Really no good if it was Friday! I think everything will be fine. I'm not worried either. Will be a great sled and will work out good for everyone who has got one. I'm sure there will be some issues but nothing big. And happens to everybody from time to time.

Oh Cuba is on every forum bitching about what ever he is riding , so don't take what he says to seriously !

No I'm not and yes my ProCross was a disaster but my Firecat was awesome.

The Viper will be a good sled. The chassis is good and will be durable. If I have to buy some stronger parts for it oh well I did that on every sled I have owned.

I read that thread on doo talk and dam that was funny alot of them are talking out of their azz !!hahaha!!! :moon:

I know snobill, that's crazy ain't it.

One word JEALOUSY. I was actually offended that some of those guys who used to come here and obviously STILL lurk here thought of us the way they described. I am proud of this site. Do we make mistakes? Sure. But we try darn hard to make owning a Yamaha the best experience possible. That does not mean hiding anything or any other accusations they talked of. If any actually met the people on this site they would be proud to ride with them and call them friends no matter what they ride. Shame on those Doo guys who posted on there. I wont forget it.

I'm still trying to figure out how Skidoo has the number one spot in market share. Their motors are absolute garbage at best. The 1200 four stroke is hands down the most boring sled I've ever ridden in my life. I don't care if it's faster, slower, whatever...it is about as boring as it gets. Their two strokes motors are walking time bombs. The chassis is not that great. I got on my buddies 2010 etec 600 and I wasn't sure what was gonna blow first...that POS motor or the entire front end. I was scared and couldn't wait to get off it. Keep drinking the yellow Kool aid and keep those rings and pistons on hand!!! Last brand I would ever buy

oh but there so light weight lol, damn I stood on one and thought I was going to fold the floorboards.

To me it's like this. They are suppose to have the best sleds.. According to them. Then why are they so worried about anyone else's sleds. Why are they trying so hard to make ski doo look so good and Yamaha so bad. They will brag about there 800 e tec beating a stock Nytro in a race and have no problem with that. Even though it has 25+ hp advantage. And then make every excuse when they lose. Well they are just plain jealous! They are worried that this Viper is better looking has a awesome motor and will probably out handle the famed r motion. They know that they have there own set of problems and love when we bring up our problems so that they can justify there's. Instead of just saying wow that Viper is a sweet looking sled and being happy with there's, they have to put everything else down to make themselves get over the fact that they don't have the best sled or the fastest or the best handling sled or the most reliable sled or the best looking sled. Ski doo does make a good sled. And so does everyone else. We just like Yamaha and that's fine. I don't go out of my way to mess with them so why do they. Jealousy! Plain and simple!

Not trying to bash here but on my apex and nytro I bent the running boards , I have both the 1200 ( wife and me when she's not ridding ) and the viper sitting side by side , they both look pretty good but I'm going to have $300 in just replacing all these torx bolts , we are doing a little test this winter to see witch chassis is the best , I've never rode cat before so we will see ;)!

I am a Yamaha guy but those guys at dootalk have some truth to there gripe. I had blue glasses on too and some of you guys really should look in the mirror when analyzing things. There are other brands that do things better than Yamaha. Yamaha has left us loyal customers hanging and putting a sled together with Arctic Cat is just a bandaid.

I can see both sides to this debate but the same thing you guys are saying on here is the same thing they say at dootalk.

Yamaha needs to wake up make a light framed, reliable sled with the best motor in snowmobiling. They have the knowledge, engineers, engine and money to do it but haven't done it for us.

To charge $12,000 for a nytro motor in a cat chasis is a joke and that is why I went 800etec.

I love the look of the Viper but no way am I paying $17,000 if not more after you put a turbo, studs, and everything else to get the sled the way I would want it. If it would of been around $9,500 where the Nytro is priced then I would of got one.

You guys justify it anyway you want but some of those guys on dootalk are spot on with there quotes and what happened to them here. If you can't have good clean debate about snowmobiles then both parties have a problem.

Enjoy the Vipers and have a nice snowmobiling year. I really like the red and black LTX SE and maybe will buy one when the price comes down to $9500.

I am just hoping I don't ride Dave's blue and black Viper or I will be spending a crap load of money for another sled. :sled1:

It was just my personal opinion on the running boards lol, but some doo guys think there sleds are greatest thing since apple pie lol and bash everything else on snow. I am not 5 years old lol my sled is better than yours nah nah I like all the brands just that I like 4 strokes for the reliability. If the 1200 doo was updated body wise I may have been on dootalk instead of here, but it just does not appeal to me in the looks department. Now if it looked like an xs or xp I would be sold. Perhaps one day. I am happy with my viper so far, and we have lots of snow right now.

It is a little over the top on here sometimes , if yamaha is the best then I don't think they would be in 4TH , oh and get dead last in sno-x

WOW another my sled is better than yours internet squabble.

You can tell by my name YAMADOO I have had and likely will have both and even Poo or CAT in the future as I have in the past.

Guys I remember when there really was HUGE differences in quality, huge differences in RIDE, speed, handling etc.. Now it really is PREFERENCE - how and were do you ride. I have changed my style of riding with aging and Now choose my Apex or Viper LTX as my ride, but I loved the 10,000 +miles on the XCSP 800 Poo with the HTG pipes clutching and all.

I now ride with a group, Cat 800 procross, 2 Revs, Poos and several Yamahas. We all have fun and No breakdowns / tow home for YEARS on any of them. Boy I don't want to be the first.

Have fun on the VIPERS GUYS you will love them. I no longer worry about 1st year sleds that is now a minor issue past bigger issue.

I hope you love them so much I start loosing sleep coming up with how I can get one. I am beginning to be and want to be JEALOUS!!!!

My 2cents

Yamadoo
