2015 Viper LTX SE blue and white-Ulmer clutching, 8dn belt, MBRP trail can, J&T 4th wheel kit, Shaper bars,
Anybody have this kit and what our your thoughts. It has 8.5 in wheels for the ltx and xtx . looks pretty nice. this is the stealth big wheel kit.

My opinion right, wrong, or otherwise:

Some kits offer a larger 7.5” wheel (RTX) or 8.4” wheel (LTX. XTX, MTX) with the theory being that this gets the track up off of the hyfax. Initially I believed this to be a good idea, but the more I looked at the setup I began to understand it better. The front skid wheels are at or near the bend in the rails. They keep the track up off of the slides preventing premature wear or wear pocketing. Wear pocketing is known to cause loss of top speed. Adding larger wheels at the rear will allow the track to contact the hyfax in the space between the idlers and the rear axle but will create separation towards the end of the rails. This will cause a wear pocket in hyfax near the center of the skid. Leaving the track to contact the hyfax to the end will not cause this pocketing.

I also got it straight from the horses mouth at D&D when I inquired about the wheels and mentioned the Dupont slides: "The slides will help a ton ! Don't go with bigger wheels in back, slows down top end when the wheels hang down that much."

I have it. It has nice heavy duty wheels and is a marked improvement over the stock wheels. The wheels are only a little bigger than stock, maybe 3/8 in. so I'm not too concerned. I also added more wheels in the open area as well so hopefully that will help some. Will know more in a few days hopefully when I get to ride.

I have this exact kit installed on my LTX. Very high quality black anodized axle and stubs. Running the 8.5" oversized wheel will allow for a free rolling track compared to the smaller diameter stock wheel. The wheels supplied with the kit are a very high quality as well. I took this pic of the wheel just placed outside the rail before actually mounting it with the new axle. Main reason for the 4 wheel kit is to replace the stock tri-hub axle which is known to fail. Simply adding two outer wheels to the stock tri-hub inner wheels won't be of any benefit. If your concerned with hyfax wear just invest in a set of the Yamaha dupont slides. They work!

I haven't used this one specifically, but I have used a bunch of the JT wheel kits on other sleds in the past and they have always been top notch.

Dean Larson's 4 wheel kit, right sized wheels and strong as hell!

Is there rubber on the wheel ? hard to tell on the pic. I have seen some wheels that were just hard plastic and I don't really want all hard plastic wheels.

No rubber. I wouldn't call it plastic, Nylon or Delrin material. Very nice wheels made by Avid I believe. JT site says the wheels will outlast you sled and they do look like they will.
Can't comment on durability first hand, zero miles on the new sled.

I called him. And for some reason was quoted 350.00+s/h. seen where others paid 313.00 with s/h on here.and his brochure says 300.00 just thought something didn't add up.

I bought the one from Turbo dynamics 4 wks ago and still not here. I just got another email from them last night saying it shipped on thanks giving....Then I remembered they are in Canada and don't give thanks.

Had my kit from JT very quick. Has both stock size and oversize wheel kits. I think these are what Ulmer is selling as well

I recently installed them on a pair of my 2014 LTX SE's and they look to be of excellent quality. I also have no miles in them so I can't say for sure what they will do for top end speeds. As far as the pocketing that was mentioned in a previous post, both sleds had terrible pocketing in the front near the front boogies. Along with the 8.5" 4 wheel kit in the the rear, I also added a pair of 5.63" wheels in the center of the rails (where it was mentioned it would pocket with the larger wheels), DuPont slides and I also installed a set of 4 3.5" wheels in the front that attach where the limiter straps go and I got those from Whal Bros. Those should help with the initial contact the track makes with the rails. I can tell you what, before I had to use two hands to rotate the track when it was stock and now I can rotate it with 2 fingers. I don't believe the larger wheels will kill top end. If anything it should help a little as it reduces deflection of the track. I will certainly find out soon enough I guess.

Just bought the J&T kit, should be here Wednesday.

my tri-hub doesn't sound good after this past week....so I made sure I had this kit before Houghton ride.

I want to contact this dude on his Axels about maybe running ads.. I know Ulmer sells his stuff but I would like to talk with him anyway.... can someone message me his site or phone please.
