We went to Cullys ranch yesterday and saw JB getting big air and doing backflips on a Phazer.
He makes it look easy!!! ;)!

Of course he makes it look easy, its his job.
An acquaintence of mine used to race sno-x and was a pretty good sno-x racer and he told me that he met Jimmy Blaze at one of the races. Jimmy told him that the backflip is one of the easiest tricks because if you make a mistake its easy to bail off.

Here are some shots I got of the backie.

Then why don't you give her a go Octane ? It's harder than it looks, I don't care who you talk to, they've only been doing them for a few years, I remember when it wasn't considered possible, not that long ago!

Yeah... you can bail, but you can bail on any trick or jump. The backflip is different in that the sled is over the top of you. There is 180 degrees of rotation where you have a good chance of getting squashed by the sled if you bail.
