Hey guys. I just bought a 2004 rx1. Haven't ridden it yet but when I start her up I can only imagine.
The nameplate on the sled says it was built in 2003. My ownership says 2004.
Do you guys have any inside info on what to pay attention to on these machines in terms of maintenance? I am new to sleds.
Would anyone have a service manual on this year sled. I dont even know how to change the oil.

Thanks very much

Welcome to a 4 stroke. Yamaha's premier sled. You got an early generation 4 stroke but you will love this thing! TO change the oil on it follow these directions.

1. Take off plate under sled.

2. Remove oil bolt let drain.

3. Remove Right side side panel.

4. Drain oil Tank.

5. Remove air box. Use a phillips screwdriver to get to the small hose clamps thats wrap around the carbs. They are hard to see might have someone hold a light for ya!

6. Remove battery

7. Remove Battery Bracket.

8. Replace Oil Filter.

Then reassemble.

Hope that helps! Check your gear oil too. Read the apex threads and frequently asked questions. A lot of it is already covered. Put some new dually carbides on and check your hyfax. Be sure to grease up the rear suspension. Give away your 2 cycle oil away to your buddies and fill her up with 87 pump gas and go have throttle jockey fun!

The hyfax are also known as slides they are the peices of plastic (most commonly black but can be any color) that ride on the bottom rail of your skid they are between the skid and track

also if you dont have a manual... there is good parts diagrams on the Yamaha's web site..its helped me a few times.
