Isn't the old saying " I'm just stock with a bit of clutching"? The winder fits the mold.
We have been doing some clutching to try to make an upgrade that is affordable but productive !
So far we have only changed the secondary helix and spring out with dalton products in two sidewinders.
33/35 helix with black orange spring has shown great mid range pull.
I've also replaced the primary spring with a black bronze dalton spring to try. I'm not paying for an expensive tune just yet when the clutching makes the sled so much better.

I may start with mine, clutching first. I would like to see how much more I can get out of her with just clutching only too. I like your thinking. Then Ill get into the tune later, adding weight is not a biggie afterwards.
Trails here are just opening now, so just starting to get things under way here. Lakes are all setting up great and we are on lakes before trails are even packed in some areas.....cold has been wonderful.
And the amazing hand heaters are so much hotter then the last 4 yrs on doos, I had to keep turning them OFF! And the heated seat really is hot...Had to turn it off too! All at minus 20c, never was warm on my doo at these temps..lol.

It's amazing that you are ever warm Dan with the shields you have on your sleds.

I am going to just clutch for now also. Interesting to see where we can get with stock engine tune and muffler......

Running the stock weights, TPI rollers, orange secondary spring at 60, orange primary spring and glide washers with 1 shim also. The orange primary spring is a high rate spring. The orange secondary spring is stiffer also. This combo is working great for a new lazy engine. After a day of lake runs yesterday and almost 400 miles on the sled the revs are starting to climb. Not much traction in the packed powder but I was seeing 9100 on initial hit from 30mph which was settling to about 8800-8900. My belt looked great last night with very little dust on the panel. I will be ordering HH'S soon to control the rpms better. When I tune it I can add weight as needed.

Im blown away just by how much my stock setup is breakin in, and gaining rpms quickly....end of last night running home she was pulling like freight train! Love these Yams, it so reminds me of my apex how she just kept getting stronger.

I'm in your corner Joe, I have the orange secondary spring, HD rollers and Dalton black/bronze primary spring in as of now. Can't see getting a tune as this thing is scream'in fast stock, it will serve me well in its stock skin.
