How about the exhaust donuts are they as big of an issue as they are in the older style apex?

I bought a new relay for my pocket just in case. only problem mine has had starting was at -40c because it was low on gas.
it will also tell you when you are due for an oil change. suprised the heck out of me the 1st time it happened.

Carry the small hand warmers with you and wrap them around relay if it freezes. Easy to carry and it works to thaw them.

No, not at all. Have over 12k miles on my 2011 and not a single problem. The donuts were shot twice on the 2007 in 7,500 miles. Just before I sold it I put copper donuts in it, then promptly had a crack in the muffler where it comes 2 into 1. I sold the sled to my buddy and agreed to take it apart and have it welded in the fall, but really what a pain in the arse. I'm so sick of taking the thing apart to fix the exhaust, it's the major reason I sold it and got the other 2011 for my wife. How about the exhaust donuts are they as big of an issue as they are in the older style apex?

check your exhaust donuts anyways. i had to redo mine last year and it only had approx 7000km. better catching them sooner then after the pipes break or wear out. It's not as much of a PITA then the older apexes, plus you have lots of time to do it before the snow flys

I may as well chime in here as well. I just went from my 2007 Gt to a 2012 XTX and you are going to be giggling! Don't get me wrong, my 07 GT was a great sled, but there are just so many new things that I love about the next gen Apex.
Taller seat, smoother power, POWER STEERING!! Just like any other apex, stock skis will suck without some dual runner carbides, if they have not been swapped out already. With EPS, you can load up the ski pressure too!
Read up on 2011 Hyfax wear on the XTX, you may want to invest in some low snow wheels as that was one change from 2011 to 2012 from what I read. I was debating a new 2011 left over this spring, and just got the deal of a lifetime on the 2012. But I did notice that difference. I think it is remedied with low snow wheels and of course Dupont Hyfax. Just do a search here to be sure as I never read any deeper once I got my sled.
It's always good to hear the excitement of anyone buying over the summer as they are praying for snow more than anyone, and that's saying a lot.
Good luck with it!

I've got an XTX myself but i haven't tried the dupont slides. I added 2 sets of marginal wheels along with a full set of the oversize idler that Royal sells. I've been getting well over 5000km with regular slides.
thor452, how are the track clips with the DuPonts? just curious because if the slides don't wear then something has to wear and that would be the clips.

clips are still perfect as well in fact my 07 had a few wear out by the miliage i have on the 12 now and the 07 had stock slides but no real wear issues. the duponts have reminded me of the 07 where they wear to a point and then stop wearing for many miles.I also put the perstuded track on at the same time as the duponts the sled only had 200 miles on it at the time and now has 4500 on the on set of duponts. I may change them before this season as i bought a set at the start of last season but they didnt seem to wear at all last season. but to the question no clips have been harmed in the useing of the duponts lol. and i dont do anything to prolong the life either I'll go full speed down a hard pack road for miles and i dont use scratchers or wheeles other then stock of any kind.

5k miles on my dupont slides last year with the marginal snow wheel kit. Hardly any wear on the slides, and clips look great. I'm gonna run the same slides this year. Had duponts on my 06 virtually no wear after a season and they are on the new machine now as well. One of the many reasons I purchased it.

Picking up the rocket in 3 weeks! Can't wait! Going to do a photo shoot and add pictures galore. Look the sled over and grease up pre season check. Install saddlebags and gps mounts also go pro sticky mounts and adding TY4stroke stickers of course.
