After much thought and consideration I am keeping my 06 apex. Gonna send the shock to Hygear and get their revavle/rebuild package buy a new snow suit "Yamaha Four stroke" and 509 helmet goggles. Plus new Snowtrackers aggressive carbides to increase bite and some dupont slides. Wait for one of the 5 year new sles to have the 4 cyl motor. These upgrades should do me well for another year or 2 anyway. Maybe look into adding 2 inches of foam into my seat. Gotta work on my videos too I still have lots of footage to edit just need to get it into the right program so it works out better than my last one :S

Ha! so now my father in law ( riding partner ) has snow checked a 2014 Renegade 800R. I beat his 12 MXZX etc 800 R now so we'll see if my upgrades and "old" motor can still take this one. Any suggestions people have for good upgrades to my sled? I've got 16500 km's on her I figure it is barely broken in! Seems to get faster each time I ride it.

Shock sent to Hygear had to fix a few things that were worn and broken. 615$ I am up to 1250$ already on this sled in upgrades. I hope it is worth it and that I won't have to spend any more money on it this year and crossing fingers for next year as well.

I will be keeping my '07 Apex GT until Yamaha comes out with a version of the "Yamacat" with some decent HP. Either a boosted 3 cyl or a 4 cyl that has at least as much power as my old Apex.
I can't complain, my '07 has been a great sled and still does everything I need it to do.

I am in the same situation. I have an 06 apex that i want to replace but
I dont want another apex. While i love mine, i just want something Different.
i have been looking at the 1200 skidoo and the new viper.
In my opinion both are great sleds but unfortunately, neither of them has a motor that compares to the apex.
So I have decided to dump 4-500 hundred into mine and change out all the steering joints. Go through the rear suspension.Replace the chain and bearings in the chaincase. Add 2" to the seat, new hyfax carbides And a few other little upgrades.
I will ride my apex for a little while longer and keep hoping that the new sled yamaha releases this winter will be an apex replacement

Same here. I'm waiting for the Apex replacement model before I buy new again. My 06 RTX has just shy of 10,000 miles so I bit the bullet this summer and had the dealer replace the drive axle and all of the drive bearings on both sides for piece of mind. Should keep me going for the foreseeable future.
