This is a good one. When you buy a Yamaha spring order and they offer unlimited miles/unlimited hour warranty for the 4 or in my case 5 years know that it is limited!!!!!

Once any repairs on that sled equal the price you paid for it they will no longer cover anything and you’ll be
Left with a boat anchor!

my 2017 ltx-le purchased in October of 2016

brought it in for a recall in feb. For turbo bolts in which they fixed that and apparently the turbo showed damage too and was replaced.
Following December 2017 my starter goes and they replace that
Then feb of 2018 the motor looses a cylinder.... which they rebuilt.... rebuilt the motor! Yamaha doesn’t offer a short block?
Didn’t get the sled back till May.

dec of 2018 7 miles into the first ride and click snap.... the chain on the oil pump broke.... more weekends go by.....

feb 2019 electrical problems

feb 2020 day 1 of a 7 day backpack trip... 6 miles from the start point going 20mph thru a parking lot and boom I’m on two cylinders!!! After having it looked at they said it appeared the timing jumped. ???

so they say the repairs to rebuild this again are 11thousand dollars..... but given the repair bills Yamaha has paid out... they will only cover 3,000 dollars of it....

I have 5 friends that ride these and we all ride the same way/style and mine has been the only problematic one......

When I bought that sled their slogan was
“Roundtrip reliability”. obviously I feel different..... thanks for the boat anchor Yamaha!!!!!!

Wow, that's unbelievable, you paid a premium hard earned dollar price to buy a advertised top of the line reliable sled, Yamaha without a doubt should have replaced your sled with a new one in 2018, did you get to put any miles on this sled at all? what are your plans now?

3,667 miles the first time it went and roughly 6,200 on it this time.... I try to do 2,000 miles a year always...

Thinking about going to Polaris..... and I’m sure the group of guys I ride with will follow...

Well you got a few miles but you were probably on edge waiting for something else to happen, Polaris makes one of the best looking sleds in my opinion and one of the best rides now with the new v1, I have a buddy that has a RMK 800 and he tortures this sled like.. beyond for the last 3 years and it just takes everything he throws at it, never a problem with the engine even with all the Debbie downers on Polaris on this forum, I guess you see with your eye's and not your ears, hopefully the 850's are just as durable, good luck Buddy.

Polaris would be a great call. The VR1 has been getting fantastic reviews, great warranty. Been looking alot at them myself. Sorry to hear about your bad, sorry that should be horrific luck.

Wow that sucks! Surprised I didn't run into that with my Phazer. How would a policy like that even work? People all pay different prices for thier sleds. Something odd here. You sure it was actually Yamaha warranty and not some other policy like aftercare? Maybe your dealer just didn't want to work on it anymore? Did you call customer service?

Customer service has been absolutely no help... this is the y.es. Program they give you when you spring order....

That stipulation in the warranty policy is not uncommon. It is in the fine print. My buddy actually found it in his Polaris policy while reading it.

Then put a short block in!!! The mechanic has no idea of what parts all failed.... he’s not a metallurgist .... odds are something was comprised from the first time....And was not noticed....... leaving me with a sub-par motor

There is no short block from Yamaha. Also not uncommon with Japanese manufacture( I work for Toyota).
Maybe your mechanic should not be working on your sled if he cant identify compromised parts.....

All easy things to say when you’re not in my shoes..... I was at the mercy of their warranty and what they deemed needed to be done

Polaris warranty is the same....

Keep calling. Ask your dealer for the claim number. Yamaha warranty is NOT like Polaris or Cat. even after the first year of Manufacture warranty the YES is a Yamaha program. Not a separate warranty company. If this is legit and the dealer actually started a claim I am thinking that this is one that is going to be a long wait since the sled is probably going to get replaced. They get real quiet till decisions are made. I suspect that it goes pretty high up the chain. Be nice keep on top of it and if anything is found as far as lack of paperwork etc by dealer go to a different dealer.

It also seems to me that some of these repairs should be on the dealer, not Yamaha. Your dealer is soaking Yamaha for their mistakes.
The timing jumped? That's not Yamaha fault, it is an assembly problem. If this happened at our shop, we eat the bill. Dealerships set aside XXX amount of money each 1/4 for such just cases. It is usually called "service policy" It deals with damage incurred at dealership property, good will and #*$&@ ups.
