Yamaha warranty very questionable - I hope reps are reading

Your in dream land, get real. Name one person who has ever been given a new sled for warranty? Even back when Yamaha had a good warranty that has never happened to my knowledge.

The definition of unreliable IS
“Having many issues” some things in life have many flaws, others have less, some are major some are minor. There’s a threshold of tolerance that’s different for many folks. It would be nice too see blow your motor and have your SUPER DEALER leave you hanging, mostly due to the fact yamaha doesn’t even have replacement motors, that’s a Yamaha “thing”

Put yourself in Kingers shoes
In 2013 I purchased a polaris 800 assault. 80 miles in I have an issue that acts like a powervalve issue. Sled spent time at the dealer on multiple occasions with no fix in sight. At this point Im pushing 1000 miles and losing too much riding time so I purchase a 3rd sled so no more missed riding time.. My next visit was a sit down with owner of dealership to discuss my disappointment and thoughts on this new sled. Next day I get a call and dealer says he spoke to Polaris and there is 2 more things they suggest he looks at. He then tells me if that doesnt take care of it he will take my sled back and swap my accessories over to a new sled and call it a day. Not saying all dealers will jump at this option but a good one will work with you to make a fair outcome in whatever option works for the both of you. Not bashing Kinger at all, if I sounded like I was dissing his efforts then I apologize to him.I have had many things covered in my life that were outside of warranty period or big discounts on parts etc. Sometime a good discussion is all it takes for assistance, sometimes you got be more drastic with your plans.
I know the definition of unreliable but thanks for reassuring me. And your right, everyone has different thresholds. Maybe mine is influenced by the fact Ive been logging for 20+years and for the past 10 Ive been self employed and owned many different pieces. Daily maintainance and spinning wrenches is not new to me. I know that by spending $1000 on a part now can save me $25,000 down the road. Alot of sleds get labeled as unreliable and maybe they are for the person who just wants to turn the key and ride and not touch anything. Everything will fail you at some point with this approach. "Cat dna" gets thrown around often but in my case, of all the snowmobiles Ive owned in my life with the exception of a nytro and an apex, the cats were the most reliable 2 strokes I owned.....both engine and chassis, and Ive owned multiple models from all models. I dont make excuses for any manufacturer . Expecting much of anything for your money now a days is the definition of "dreamland". 99% of stuff has lesser build quality with shorter life spans for double the money. Dont expect that to change anytime soon. With my sidewinder I got what I expected for my money, no disappointment on my end. And for clarification, in my case the winder and whatever else you find on this property was earned. No hand outs, big inheritance or anything else here.

I had a buddy with a new Polaris. Caught fire on first ride, something to do with the battery. Buddy refused to wait for new wire harness, panels etc. Polaris gave him a new sled. When I had my Winder in for chaincase warranty the dealer was bragging I didnt have to pay for chaincase oil. I waited a month for parts. Gimme a break.

The Polaris dealer did the right thing...who wants to fix up a new crispy critter out of the box. What was wrong with your chain case? It seems to me there is a serious problem with chaincase's on these sleds...they have been selling them for years now and no fix on the bearing/ shaft problems, oil leaks, things not being torqued down from factory. I waited 2 months to fix an oil leak...chaincase engineering needs to be addressed...still an awesome sled though...

I am wondering in this case if it’s actually the inner case or one of the drive or Jackshaft seals that has actually been leaking? Have seen that more than once.

yes, it was the chain case gasket...to make sure I've put a clean piece of material under the sled to make sure its stopped leaking..thanks for the heads up on the possibility of other seals leaking...I will keep that in mind...especially if I see oil again.

So after all that it wasn't even the oil tank that was leaking.Unbelievable i think you need to find a new dealer they don't know the difference between gear oil and motor oil. I wouldn't let them oil the chain on my tri cycle.

TPAY, I'm not sure if I have gotten all the facts correct as to what parts were defective...one thing I know for sure is engine oil was dripping for way too long...your point is well taken on finding a dedicated Yamaha specialist to work on my sled because my skills are limited and not all mechanics have the same technical savvy....I'd like to know more and I read stuff on this site to at least learn of problem and fixes...like everyone here, this sport is allot of fun and the sidewinder is one great ride...with some issues...

Being told by my dealer that Yamaha is getting more and more difficult to work with. All warranty repairs done back in March are now being questioned, and dealers are not being paid.

We are talking about the standard things that keep breaking, gears, oil leak at tank and shaft bearing... Yamaha wants a full history detail. Pretty soon dealers are not going to want todo any warranty work...

I have had lots of yamaha and have had next to nothing done on warranty, know that i have a artic crap chasis and need to use it, yamaha is giving a hard time to my dealer....

Not impressed, lucky covid 19 cancelled spring check,, because i was really looking forward meeting the new reps
Must be an american thing there good in canada

Yamaha warranty has been great for me so far too and I'm American...I just need more knowledge of how the systems work. Happy 4th everyone...Canadian's too!!

He's feeding you a line

As Ive said before YES has been good for me- 2 free Apex Ohlin electronically controlled shocks, new block on my 700 red head triple for a recoil tab that came out While under way and took out a chunk out of the block(luckily E start) did NOT miss a minute of riding with that one. Just had to check to see were I was shot as going down the trail suddenly loud bang recoil handle bounces off my side.....what the heck was that.....am I OK what the heck is going on here. I shut it off and we figured out the recoil handle rope was gone, Polaris buddy asks how are we going to restart? So I turned the key :)

My experience led me to believe a lot is how hard the DEALOR pushes and what kind of relationship he has with YAMAHA. At that time my DEALOR was the wrench for the Yamaha snow cross team and had won the Haydays Grass drags a time or two for them. So he knew them well and they listened to him.

Yamaha has held up their warranty for me...my dealer has been good too. Joe
