Look at the back of the block above the water manifold right in the middle I think you will find your leak.

The blocks crack right there at the bottom of the head stud hole.

Great info Ted, as always

It is not a question of boost but Temp, when the head expands in an overheat situation or longer than 1/4 mile run where a lot of heat is poured in to the head quickly, it pulls the block apart.

GNS enterprises has the fix, but you must send him your block.
Or I can do them here, and I use his system.

Ted.

Happened to me on a 11 psi application.. so its not boost related...

at that time the shop juste installed a another block was cheaper than repair the cracked block.

can happen for more that 1 reason if you put after market studs in and tighten (bottom it out) you can crack the block MY point is we can fix your block and it would be as strong as the blocks we use in our race sleds that make over 600 HP...

so how does this happen when a motor is tore down for warranty work (Re hone as new rings did not seat) and as soon as motor was filled with anti freeze it leaked coolant do to this type of crack and the motor had not even been fired yet and had no leak before and has factory studs? Why would it break with no heat in the motor at all ?

Jim told that one guy may have tightened the stud too much in the block which I believe is totally plausible.
