I installed some LED headlights today. Not thinking I put them in both the same way. These are a 2 sided bulb that has low beam on one side high beam on the other. As you can see from the picture the right side looks good left side not so good. So the left side the low beam is facing inward and the right side is facing outward. I would have to assume both low beams should face inward and the high beam facing outward? I am really looking forward to removing everything again because it was so fun...

Definitely not fun. Been awhile but there is only one way to put them in and be flat. Going to need to look at that.

Yeah I messed up something. Will take back apart in the morning. They should be up and down the more research I do. Low beam facing down high beam facing up which makes sense I guess. One of those days...getting good off first time was a challeng. Now I know how shouldn't be as bad.

If it makes you feel better, I spent about 2 hours hunting down some lost wire connection in my dash before I realized when doing my HID's I forgot to plug in the key adapter on the harness...
No harm done, but my dog thinks less of me as a mechanic.

What brand bulbs did you get?3rd times a charm. So got these figured out. Low beam is up and projects the light downward. High beam goes down and projects the light upward. Really like the look of these!

These are xkglow. $70 off Amazon free shipping being a prime member. This is their 34watt kit. I have no clue as far as quality our durability but they look well built. They also have the built in cooling fan on back. Everything fit without any modification. Even the rubber boot goes back on. I figure for the price I'll give them a try. What brand bulbs did you get?

The problem I've seen with LEDs is that the beam tends to focused in a small area. You'll get good illumination out front but the beam is narrow and doesn't provide adequate side coverage. You'll really notice it in tight turns. By the looks of your picture in the garage the beam looks narrow which would concern me. The headlight housing weather it's reflective or a projector housing really needs to be designed for LEDs and even then you run into the same problems. Harley Davidson has a projector LED headlight on some of their bikes but they are always paired with two passing lights which can be aimed outward for side coverage. Let us know how they work when you get it out on the trail. I like the idea of LEDs for headlights but I'm not convinced they're the answer yet.

Thanks for the info. I'll be interested to ride and see what my thoughts are also. I'll attach a before & after pic. Top is stock headlights bottom is the LED. I tried to position sled in same spot.

These are good pictures illustrating what I'm explaining. Look at how the brightest portion of the LED is concentrated into a tight circle. The light is reflected off of the housing out in a cone shape but due to the LED design the angle of the cone is reduced which is apparent when compared to your stock picture. Here is similar picture of HIDs with a modified antiglare shield.

Yep, I can see a difference. I will have to do an on trail ride and see my thoughts. These are good pictures illustrating what I'm explaining.
