I don't believe MURS radio is legal in Canada. When I got a Garmin thread for my friend the Canadian version didn't have the option...

Its not. But who is that going to stop from either importing the US gauge or buying the US group ride radio as an add-on. MURS frequencies in canada were originally assigned to public service dispatch (police/fire) but have since moved to all digital networks. Canada has been very slow to adopt the MURS standard and confused things by picking out 5 specific frequencies in the GMRS bands and assigned them as GMRS-M (MURs) which makes no sense since those frequencies are both overlapping with GMRS and not the 150Mhz used by MURS.
It will be interesting to see how CAT handles this as the current Garmin tread radios are all MURS based, and compatible with existing MURS radios. Cat can go to cellular only (sucks) for group ride or move to GMRS but then lose compatability with US based sleds. Garmin makes both GMRS and MURS radios so anything is possible I guess. My bet is that the dealers tell customers to use cellular for group ride like polaris but quietly whisper getting the group ride radio option from the US.

Anyone heard anything about retrofit for SRViper/Sidewinder yet? Still hopeful.

Nothing. I’ve been everywhere looking for anything. I’d say it’s just about dead from a OEM.

Maybe someone here will try. I'm already thinking I need to add EPS to my 2017 SRViper since someone figured it out.

Here is hoping that the data coming to the gauge is just the un-obfuscated canbus data and they haven't come up with some way to lock it all down. If so, the garmin itself is just an android tablet which is what the garmin guy at the toronto show stated.

Latest news I've seen:
Tldr:
AI: Can the G8 be retro fitted and if so, will there be kits available to help accomplish this?
JS: For 2025 there will be an accessory kit that will allow the G8 to be placed on any Catalyst model sled. There was a lot of thought placed into the G8’s design and this includes being plug and play which will certainly aid in future development of accessory kits for potential in legacy platforms such as the Thundercat.

As long as it is all can bus, its likely they just need to support a few different messages that are either different to or unique to the mitsubishi ECU. It will probably take them longer to come up with a clean way to mount it.
